Hey everybody,

With the upcoming re-make of Richard Donner's horror classic "The Omen" on June 6th, Fox Home Entertainment is releasing a brand new 2-Disc Special Edition of the first movie for release two weeks later on June 20th. Here are the full details on it as well as the creepy ass and cool artwork.

Fox Home Entertainment has announced a new collector's edition of The Omen which stars Gregory Peck. The two-disc special edition will be available to own from the 20th June, priced at around $26.98. The film itself will be presented in anamorphic widescreen, along with both English Stereo and Mono tracks. Extras will include a commentary by director Richard Donner & writer/director Brian Helgeland, an introduction to the special edition of Omen by director Richard Donner, a Curse or Coincidence featurette, a Jerry Goldsmith on the Omen Score feature, and a 666: The Omen Revealed featurette. Completing the package will be a single deleted scene (Dog Attack) with commentary by director Richard Donner and & writer/director Brian Helgeland, a David Seltzer on Writing the Omen featurette, An Appreciation: Wes Craven on The Omen feature, and a still gallery. We've attached the official package artwork below:

I'm really excited to get this and to see the re-make.

Could give two shits about the movie, but I love the cover art.

I might pick this up, considering I never bought The Omen boxset because I thought all the others were awful.

Then why don't you do so?

As for the DVD, fuck it. The last release had a commentary and a documentary on it. They were both fine. This is just stupid. I'm getting mad when films that already have decent releases like The Magnificent Seven get super-duper re-releases while great bare-bones movies such as The Road Warrior rot in the discount bins.

Really? I thought it was only coming out in other parts of the world at first.

Oh well. We could always use better releases of Love And Death.

Yeah right...like that's ever going to happen.
I really doubt any Woody Allen film will have an SE.
I was hoping at least his newly found success in Match Point would cause the dvd to have a commentary, but alas, it isn't so. :(

Ah, DAMN. I'll have to buy this, too. I do have the previous release, but...meh, clould be interesting.

Just wish they would do a SE of Damien: Omen II, as there is only a commentary on the previous release which opens a whole can 'o worms of potentially interesting information...like the first director being fired, etc. Would be interested to see a doco on it.

What's funny is a lot of those features mentioned (i.e. 666:The Omen Revealed, the commentary, the Jerry Goldsmith doc) are on the ORIGINAL Omen DVD. The couple of new features aren't at all worth it. I'll be keeping my purrty version and won't be double dipping.

By the way, just watched this for the first time in a long while tonight and it's still great. :) I still have to catch parts II and III (I already know to avoid IV at all costs), but have been weary to do so.

P.S. Remaking this classic movie is perhaps the stupidest idea in the history of stupid ideas.
