View Full Version : Claws
A logger named Jason is mauled by a wounded grizzly bear, which kills many innocent people for the next five years. Fiinally it attacks his son, which pisses the guy off so he and a couple of his buddies who also want it dead for different reasons (Henry the Indian Guy: Because it is apparently "the Kustaka", Howard who married Jason's wife after she left him for what he did to the kid, Commisioner Ben to end all the headlines) go hunt for it. I used to have mixed feelings about this movie, but upon rewatching it I love it! I have the rare Video Gems big box....
I take it nobody has seen the film?

I have it on VHS but prefere Grizzly (1976) over this...
I do too. But this is still a fun watch, just not scary like GRIZZLY.

Claws is a very boring, ridiculous crappy movie. Grizzly is much better and it has funny gore bits.
I agree that GRIZZLY is much much better (that was the movie that inspired my username here, and GRIZZLY Is my 3rd favorite film) but I really like CLAWS as well. I do wish it had been a bit gorier though and hadn't had scenes that dragged...

Bear come on...!
If they make this flick for 3 mil, 1/3 of the budget for the "bear' effects, shoot it to go out unrated, cast unknowns, no humor, it could be great!
It's a little known movie so story wise you could keep faithfull to the original
since your a "Bear" fan, you should check this link.
They shot a huge bear (10 1/2 feet), which made me think even more about a sequel, cuz they found human remains inside the bear (to bad they had to kill it...)

warning!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is also a pretty graphic picture of a victim on that forum from another attack, for those of you who would rather not see this, I advise you do not...
I'm against remakes, especially if it's for one of my favorite movies. It was cool if they remake movies from the 50's, but not the 70's and 80's.

Why are you against remake's from the 70's/80's but not the 50's?
The Thing, The Fly and The Blob remake could have failed miserably and that has nothing to do from when the originals were....It has to do with the director, crew, actors....
They could make a killer remake out of Grizzly, simply because a lott of the effects and acting is well...pretty crap, I mean it' is not Jaws!
It's a cheap B-movie that tried to cash in on an A-flick's succses...
I love Grizzly, i first saw it when I was 12, but I have no illusions about why they made Grizzly...$$$$
And neither should you, I firmly believe that they can make a kick ass remake out of Grizzly
I think I've just gotten tired of the remakes. I think it might be because once a movie is remade, the original always ends up fading into obscuirty. I don't think that they wouldmake a Grizzly remake before a Jaws one, and I'm really hoping that even that doesn't happen.

I can understand what your saying...
I just think the flick lends well for a remake...but it will never happen.
