I've been wanting this for years but it has always been a little pricey. It's now down to 50 bucks at my local store. is it worth the 50 bucks? What's on this set besides all 7 movies??

well worth the money. even at $100.00 price tag this set would be worth it. first of all , all the movies have pristine transfers with excellent dolby digital 5.1 sound and there is a 7th supplementary disc with interviews with craven on how he got the ideas for nightmare. plus there is other stuff on the disc as well . i can't remember any of it off the top of my head . haven't watched the supp. disc in a long time. so yes at $50.00 that is a steal. if you buy these movies seperately they are a least $14.99 or better.

Alright thanks. Ya I have all the single ones. I bought them before I knew there was a box set

I saw it at $750 (. . . that's 75 dollars) and didn't give it a second thought. Haven't regretted it.

The Friday Box is the one that has me questioning. It's at 110 dollars, only has 1-8 and I already own 1-6. Not sure it's all worth it.

I'm thinking of getting that even though I own 1-10 plus freddy vs jason. Just to have it.

you're right night crawler they could have done a hell of a lot better with that friday box set. first and foremost why the hell did they not ask or maybe he did not want to , cunningham to do a commemtary on pt. 1? oh well maybe the next time around we'll have a better set.

I've had the NOES box set for a few years now and have never once regretted buying it. It's almost worth it for the 8th disc alone, which has a ton of extras on it that any self-respecting Freddy fan will love to death!

My advice, if you're a fan, get it. :)

I can't believe the prices some of you guys are mentioning for this badboy. The highest price around me is 40 bucks. It is worth it at any price though. But if you own them....aw hell buy it anyways:D

I bought it the other day. It's pretty neat. I haven't had time to explore the whole bonus disk. But what I have seen I like. Plus I like the covers of the dvds. They're the old VHS covers. Good set. I got it for 55.

That's how much I found it on sale at Target last year. Plus when you bought it they threw in a $5 gift card.

Got this and the Friday the 13th box sets for my birthday. The Nightmare set was 42 @ Best Buy. Not a bad deal considering the replay value on this badboy. You can wait forever to buy it but it looks fantastic sitting on the shelf.

It's one of the best boxsets out there! My only complaint is the censored 5th chapter in the series, I saw a VHS version of the Dream Child and it's not the same as the DVD, I'm talking bout the death of the rich girl on a fancy dinner, Freddy's feeding her with her own insides, that was cut off from the DVD version, bummer!

I agree with you on that, but you can also buy the DVDs thru Amazon.com or ebay.com and get the cheap prices, it's been ages since the last time I bought a movie on MixUp or any other mexican record store, those prices are insane!

Heh. MixUp is where I buy most stuff (that and a bazaar up north sometimes). I'd do more Amazon but I don't have a credit card, so.

I'm not sure about Amazon.com but ebay.com accepts debit cards, if you don't have a credit one you can always use the debit one and buy your stuff.

Another thing that annoys the living hell out of me is that MixUp doesn't carry many of the old school horror flicks, or they just have the hideous Region 4 with crappy artwork, fuck that shit!

Steer clear of the EIV release. The sound mix is just awful. I'm assuming you're going for the New Line platinum edition?

For that and others, try the Lomas Verdes bazaar if it's not too far away from. It has a DVD locale (all original, worry not) that kicks all kinds of ass.

Geez, I guess I should go shopping for this somewhere else. Most of the big movie/music/electronics stores here don't carry the Nightmare on Elm Street boxset, and if they do, I've never found it at less than $100-$125 CDN, which is approximately $87-$110 US.

I've been coveting this damn set since 2001 or so, and have never found it cheap enough to buy. But since I love the films and it's been so long since I've seen any of them, I'm just gonna say screw it, and pick up the next one I can find. I'm tired of waiting for the price to go down.

Of course, I'll still be picking up the Infinifilm Edition of A Nightmare on Elm Street when it's released September 26. :D

Most stores here (Ottawa) don't have it in stock either. But the computer database of my HMV of choice (we have more than one here) says it's available for ordering in and is only $67.99 CDN.

An edited prt. 5 issue aside, which I am learning about here for the first time (bummer indeed). this set is well worth picking up for the price at which it currently sells. I grabbed mine around three years ago and paid at least double the price that I see the set for in stores now. If you can find it for around $40 or $50, and you will if you look, grab it and enjoy.

As far as the bonus features that make the eigth disc a "must-have".... Dokken's "Dream Warriors" baby. That is all I have to say.

I got mine for $94.61 CDN (taxes included).

P.S.
Where do you live? Which city?

What stores have you been to that it costs so much?

I'm in Vancouver, BC, and I've only been to the major retail stores like Future Shop, HMV and A&B Sound, but the lowest price I've ever found was $99.99 CDN. Of course I've also checked many used DVD shops but have never been able to find the whole boxset. I usually find 1 or 2 from the boxset that are being sold individually but not all 7 discs.

Maybe I'll try Best Buy; only thing is, the closest store is so damn inconvenient to get to and I'm usually too tired after a full day's work to make the trek all the way out there. The other major retail stores are all in the downtown vicinity, which is where I work, so it's easy for me to pop in quickly before getting on the train.

With Vancouver being a bigger city than mine (Ottawa) I'd think you'd be able to get it for less than what I did, but I guess not. :(

I think the price for this box set has generally dropped to the $50-$60 price range. For fans of the series that is definitely a reasonable price. I still remember buying this the day I bought my dvd player for $110. It was definitely a good decision. It isn't perfect. I have issues with them not providing a commentary track, not giving us the deleted scenes from NIGHTMARE (like Johnny Depp rising back out of the bed) and NIGHTMARE 5, and not including the making of THE DREAM MASTER special that they aired on television during it's release but with so much great stuff already on here I can't complain too much. If they did release another more definitive box set I would surely buy the series again for a third time. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I envy all that have it:D

I have the first 5 in their individual, bare-bones versions. Although I don't find the movies themselves to be overly good (sorry to all fans), I DO think that Freddy is one of the coolest, most original horror icons out there. That's why I wanna have this boxset so much. Bummer that I can't.
