My big issue with the second is how lousy the villain was. Molina was trying to go for the same level of crazy as Dafoe and it felt like a contrived performance. Plus the whole changing sides at the end was stupid.

Spider-Man (8/10)
Spider-Man 3 (7/10) - needs a rewatch, but for now I enjoyed it.

Rankings in my current top US/UK film list:
Spider-Man 2 (2004) #519
Spider-Man (2002) #824
Spider-Man 3 (2007) #1,915

The second was was pure kinetic energy, enthralling and fun with great action sequences. The first one brought about a new wave of superhero movies, loved the effects and music score. The third one was poorly cast & the most alluring villain, Venom was severely underused and having Sandman be the one who really killed Uncle Ben was a poor plot point.

2,600 US/UK list so far (NO non-US/UK films or short films or documentaries included). My top 1,000 is just about 100% refined. I'm making a youtube video compilation of my top 100.

jaw2929 06-27-2012 10:19 PM

I don't assign number ratings to movies, so I'll rank them this way on first impressions/enjoyability:

1. Spider-Man
2. Spider-Man 3
3. Spider-Man 2

With the exception of "emo dancing Parker" in the 3rd one, I loved it. I also really loved Venom and didn't mind Topher Grace playing him. Good stuff!

Holy fucking fuck man. I'm impressed, lol.

I enjoyed the first two films a lot more in cinemas at a younger age. I've watched them again recently and they don't hold up too well these days. Still enjoyable, but its crazy how dated they already feel (I've had this conversation elsewhere on these boards...). My ratings are generous.

Sweet yeah I liked your top 250. I'd say I'd have about 2/3 of your films of that list on my top 1,000 with the rest being pretty decent films. Has your list changed since the last time you've made your list on here?

Mine's changed a lot since I last posted my favorites list last time on here. I have a lot more older films on my list compared to yours. You should make yours on the IMDB they have a cool list feature.

My youtube compilation of my top 100 should be done in a few weeks, I'm basically doing it to practice on the Avid because I'm pretty sure Youtube will eventually take it down but I almost exclusively used clips and interviews from Youtube but who knows. After that I'll probably keep trying different video sites until it gets taken down one after the other.

Where did you see my list of top 250? lol I don't remember posting it on here...maybe you saw my Top 1,000 list I posted several years ago. Only thing I can remember.

I make top 10 lists all the time on IMDB...but haven't done more than 10. Is the limit 250 like there Top 250? As for older films, I do have quite a few in my top 1,000....a big fan of classics and I have a bunch in my collection.

Anyway look forward to seeing your list dude.

Thanks. No limit on the imdb lists now. They used to have a limit of 250 but even I've gone over 1,000 on one list and I've seen a few with thousands. There's 250 per page on condensed view and 100 per page on detailed view.

lol I barely remember posting that and it was only a couple of years ago! Went ahead and updated it. :)

Cool to know about the IMDB lists. Will have to make a 1000 list soon. Just made one for my top 100!

I'm a FlickChart guy. The list gets crazy but I like voting over and over again and letting them sort it all out. Plus, the match-ups are cool and most are ones you'd never think of in a million years.

Back to topic...

Spider-Man 2 - 10/10
Spider-Man - 8/10
Spider-Man 3 - 7.5/10
Amazing Spider-Man - 6/10

urbanlegend23 07-09-2012 10:38 PM

I love FlickChart as well. It produces some surprising results. You also don't have to muck around to maintain the list like with IMDb.

Fergus 07-10-2012 01:27 AM

Spider-Man - 5/10
Spider-Man 2 - 7/10
Spider-Man 3 - 4/10

The Amazing Spider-Man - 5/10

Spider-Man 2 is a fine film but I could care less for the rest. Mostly I cannot stand the amount of cheese Raimi piles on. I might give 'Amazing' a higher rating had it anything new to offer; "the untold story" it is not.

poopontheshoes7 07-10-2012 04:10 PM

The Amazing Spider-Man 8.5/10
Spider-Man 7/10
Spider-Man 2 5/10 (Baffled as to why it's considered one of the best comic book movies ever.)
Spider-Man 3 4/10

Time has not been kind to these films for me. Mostly awkward and trite performances and chemistry, godawful dialogue and as I've more and more of the comics over the years I've realized Maguire just isn't a good Peter/Spider-Man. At all. Part of this is due to the writing, but his mopey, dopey, totally weak-minded Peter IS NOT the Peter from the comics.

The first film got the most right. Macguire and Dunst are relatively lively, Defoe is wonderfully over the top, the look and feel of the flick is very 'comic book' and it told the origin well. Overly goofy and cheesy humor with said bad dialogue hurt it from time to time, but it's still a very good and enjoyable film.

Pretty much what poop said. Rankings are spot on with mine.

Natty 07-11-2012 03:30 PM

1. Spiderman 2 - 9/10
2. Spiderman - 8/10
3. The Amazing Spiderman - 8/10
4. Spiderman 3 - 6/10

Each is a point higher than it should be only because I really love the Spiderman character. Surprised to see that Spiderman 2 is rated low on some lists, thought everyone loved that movie. Looking forward to the sequel of the Webb film a lot.

Roy Batty 07-15-2012 07:40 PM

How anyone could give Spider-Man 3 a perfect score is beyond me.

1. Spider-Man 2: 8.5/10
2. The Amazing Spider-Man: 7.5/10
3. Spider-Man: 7/10
4. Spider-Man 3: 5/10

blknge89 07-23-2012 05:07 AM

The amazing Spiderman- 7 emotional scenes out of 10

gabriel1980 07-23-2012 10:08 AM

I think Spiderman 3 is vastly under-rated. Sure, it's got too many bad guys and a strange dance number, which actually made me laugh out loud (in a good way). It's really not as bad as everyone reckons.

Because those people did not see the movie and only saw the trailer. The trailer is one of the best comic book movies ever. Or they really like the song Raindrops are fallling on my head
