Spartacus: War of the Damned
We're already two episodes into the third (fourth) and final season of Spartacus. I am very surprised there is no thread for the show yet. So let me ask, for all fans, what do you guys think so far.
Whaat do you guys think of Crassus? What do you guys think of the rebels, new and old? It has been a pretty bombastic season so far, and we are only two episodes in. |
I'm really missing Katrina Law.

Don't worry about it. I was just pointing it out is all. I will be seeing this show soon I hope. I am a big fan of this franchise. Also looking forward to Incursion.

What is Incursion?

I'm liking this season so far. The last episode leaves me wondering how the hell are they going to do 5 more eps! I can't see them getting out of this one!

Okay, what... the FUCK... is this thread doing way the hell down here on the page? Really, guys? Unbelievable.
BUMP, bitches. BUMP. Now that that's out of the way, here's three cheers for an amazing series finale that was so packed with emotion and bloodshed, tenderness and brutality, heroism and rugged guts, that I'm still reeling a bit. Filled with characters both larger than life and completely believable and addicting to watch to the bittersweet end, I'm going to miss this show. But it's been a hell of a ride, and I want to give a particular nod to Liam McIntyre as Spartacus, who took a role custom-made for another and made it his own when the series was in a vulnerable place, to say the least. I guess I can hope for that proposed Crassus/Caesar spinoff series, right? Anyway... -> 10/10 |
Agreed. It was very well done.
I hope to see more of the cast, especially McIntyre and Manu Bennet, in the future. |
This is so underrated it's fucking criminal , I am glad it has good ratings though or it had good ratings. It's not a masterpiece series like The Wire or BB , but it's sure as hell more entertaining than all the other series out.
Great series finale , could not help but get sad at the end ..great acting all around , when Andy Whitfiled was replaced by Liam McIntyre I could not get used to him in the first couple of episodes in season2 , but then he became Spartacus ..awesome actor. 10/10 |
Actually, I would put this show on the same axis as The Wire and Breaking Bad, but it's so wildly different (as those other two shows are from each other) that it's just impossible to grade them using the same criteria. But for what they all do within their genres, for what they aimed to do as stories, they're all in the same general league as far as I'm concerned to the overall benefit of serialized drama. It takes a village and a variety, and yada yada yada.
If there was one aspect of Spartacus's final season that I wish they hadn't dropped the ball on, it'd probably be the role of Castus. Historically, he was a far more important figure to the rebellion (to the level of Gannicus, in fact), a Roman soldier turned slave who became a gladiator. Which would've been a hell of a lot more interesting than the underdeveloped, triangulating cockblocker to Agron and Nasir that he became. I guess they kinda covered that Roman-to-Rebel angle with Laeta this season, but it wasn't really the same. Again, small thing with so many great characters to choose from already, but it was still a missed opportunity. Oh well. Everything else fucking rocked. |
