How did you find Joblo.com ?

I became a member sort of by accident. I was looking for links to movies on other movie websites, and I found this one. I got interested, and started to go more and more often. I didn't even look at the discussion boards. After I did, now I'm a proud member of this site.

How did you find or became a member of Joblo.com ?

Moviefan1234 10-14-2002 08:50 AM

I'm pretty sure it was through a link from upcomingmovies.com...for a long time I was just after the news and reviews section of joblo.com, but then I became intertested in the boards. :D

Nate6 10-14-2002 09:01 AM

Through Sympatico NetLife Magazine, they had a great write-up about the site and being a big movie fan, I checked it out. One of the best decisions I ever made!

Jason Voorhees 10-14-2002 01:18 PM

I found the Arrow's section of the site via internet search. Great thing, too...

:),.

darkface 10-14-2002 03:27 PM

i got into the craze of watching Trailers online, and looked up about 10 sites, and this was the best. I started exploring more of the site, and lil' bit later came onto the boards.

Dumb-Fokker-** 10-14-2002 04:45 PM

Well, basically, I was never really on the computer much. My junior year though (this being my senior), I started my I.B. courses. IB is college level courses in high school, and I started using the internet to help me study, and such. I have always like movies, especially trailers, so I did a search at Yahoo for movie trailer reviews, and JoBlo came up. Thats about it. I never really posted at a message board before, either. But since I was usually on-line during the day, with the ton of homework I get from these courses, I joined, and posted alot. Rather distracting when you are trying to do homework, and soccer, and swim practice, ect. But, nonetheless, I stuck with it, and now im a super schmoe!!!!!!! Yipee!!!!! Thats my story, and im sticking to it.

Tuukka 10-14-2002 05:27 PM

I looked for "lord of the rings" + "trailer" at google.com in the spring on 2000.

SLAW 10-14-2002 06:28 PM

Something about a hand job...I don't want to talk about it.

countchocula 10-14-2002 06:37 PM

I happened upon Arrow's reviews. For awhile, I didn't even realize that Arrow in the Head was part of a larger website. LOL!

THERE WE GO!! Throwing that "slaw" thing back in my face already! LOL! :D

I was looking for horror movie reviews THE DAY that I got the internet hooked up to my verry first computer... *sigh* I'll never forget it.
Like you guys, I hadnt found the horror talk until I wrote to Arrow..in his reply he said "see you on the boards" and I hadn't a fucking CLUE what that meant (being TOTALLY new to the internet and all), so I went on a little adventure. :)

Sort of like Homeward Bound with Michael J. Fox... or not. :D

Grebdron 10-15-2002 12:27 PM

Looking for a movie review for Raising Arizona. Just to see if anybody else loved it as much as me. Jo did!!! I found the discussion board immediately, though. I think somebody wrote something that really pissed me off, so I registered and replied immediately.

bowieee 10-15-2002 02:29 PM

Yup i thought arrowinthehead was its own site for about 3 or 4 weeks until i saw the banner that said "Part of Joblos emporium" I clicked on it and holy shit I was swept away to even more movie goodness. What would we do if this site ever got shut down....eek *shiver*

James Logan 10-15-2002 03:04 PM

Looking for some scripts to read. I saw a "members" section, and supposed "hey, usually, a members section means...PORN!" and I registered. Silly me. :p

no kidding, This is by far the best movie site there is. And just an all around fun place to chat about movies.

tbone 10-15-2002 11:54 PM

It was a long time back, before there even was a board that I found JoBlo. I have seen many changes to the site. Anyway if memory serves me right I was looking at rotten-tomatoes and saw his name under a review and clicked on it, either that or from hotbot.com.

Professor Steve 10-16-2002 10:29 AM

I know joblo has an archive of his old pages, but you can also go to the wayback machine and visit some of them too:

I was told about the site from someone at my school, but I never really cared for the discussion board until I found myself searching for horror movies. I stumbled upon the Horror boards and then a few days later I signed up. And I'm glad I did too :)

the movie guy 10-21-2002 03:09 AM

I was watching trailers on www.comingsoon.net and found that one had been supplied by none other than JoBlo himself (actually, it might have been a poster for a movie, I forget). Anyway, I checked out the site and loved it. A week later I noticed the boards and started reading a lot of posts and seeing who I agreed with and disagreed with most, and what topics I'd be interested in replying to. Another week later I signed up, and it soon became my favorite thing to do with my internet (and it's mainly when I'm at work, he he he he :D ). All other movie sites are just bi-daily searches, while JoBlo and the boards are usually always open for me. Thanks, Mr. Blo.

Kastman 10-21-2002 06:04 AM

Well here is my story.

I had homework one night, and i couldnt be fucked thinking so i went into a chat room to get help from anyone that knew anything about whatever it was i was doing.

Anyways, the conversation led to movies and someone started saying about how some guy was a completely shit reviewer of horror movies and was taking the piss for ages.

So i thought i would check it out and see what the fuss is about.

Then on that site after reading some reviews, I looked in the links page and found another site. I went to that.

When i had finished my review reading there, i checked the links again. That's where I saw "The Arrow in the Head" and i wen to that. Then after a couple weeks being there i scrolled down to find something along hte lines of "part of Joblo.com" and then i found the discussion board.

Oh yeah and if you want to see the first site that was being teased by the chatting peoples, it's horrormoviesthatsuck.com if i am not mistaken.

APzombie 10-21-2002 01:35 PM

i was on yahoo looking for a review for The Exorcist III.... I found arrows review, i became found of that site for about a month until i realized it was a branch off JoBlo.com, then i became hooked...

Didn't become a schmoe for about 5 months since i first found the site though.

stevereno 10-21-2002 05:43 PM

well i found this place back when i was obsessed with ALIENS (if you can believe that ;) ) i was looking on reviews for it and i stumbeled across ARROWINTHEHEAD.COM it took me a few months before i joined the boards.

SHIVER ME TIMBERS

Jerk Shapiro 10-21-2002 07:26 PM

I was looking for porno when...

No, I was at movies.com and I looked at JoBlo's review of Spider-Man, I think.

I decided to post my own review which took me to the message board. The rest is history.

Jason Voorhees 10-22-2002 11:37 AM

I was lonely one nigh and decided to look at Sexy Pics of Women. So I typed it in and so forth.I found a link that said Joblo.com...hmm it interested me.When I clicked on the link,a big sexy picture of Joblo appeared all over my screen.I couldn't believe how beautiful it was. There was link to the site, and What do yeah know...It was a movie site.My luck day!And to this day forth I still haven't got Jo's phone number, that sneek. :p

BadCoverVersion 10-23-2002 08:40 PM

I believe Joblo.com found me...

Actually no, scrap the philosophical wank...Total Film Magazine if I remember correctly...

Luke-Abbott 10-25-2002 11:33 AM

Well I found this site ages ago (a year ago), found a link of it at a site called Movie Shock, I clicked on it and well was a bit iffy about it because of the name "Joblo" in the banner (no offense to you Jo) thankfully it was what it said it was....a movie site. I checked out the discussion form and am now a proud member of Joblo.com.

I am actually in fact TheFrost..........the reason I have got a new name is because I couldn't log in to the site using my old name (TheFrost) and my password for some reason.....I wasn't banned or anything. So I simply started again with a new name.

But I doubt any of you cared about that so I shouldn't of even mentioned it. Joblo.com rules!!!

Orion 10-27-2002 12:17 AM

By my friend Snake Force! :D Thanks a lot man! I found JoBlo.com

flashplanet 11-02-2002 08:07 AM

Oh no, now I have to type in my story which some users which have been around for over a year may remember:
I joined in 2000 when I read the Total Film article. I was banned in November 2001 over a certain forum closure dispute ;) and realising the error of my ways, re-joined last month.

Moviefan1234 11-02-2002 09:09 AM

Just curious, but what forum was banned in November 2001?

flashplanet 11-02-2002 10:15 AM

There used to be a Misc. Discussion forum which was eventually closed because JoBlo felt there wasn't enough attention to the other movie boards, and at the time I disagreed, but now I see the error of my ways...(did I get in?....phew)

bob 11-07-2002 06:06 PM

I actually don't remember, although I do remember finding an early incarnation of the boards(there were a bunch of American Psycho threads).

P.S. to Dumbfokker-I'm in the I.B. program, too! Pre-I.B., technically. I didn't know that there was a branch in Ohio(although, now that I think of it, there's probably branches everywhere)

Movie Hunter 11-07-2002 06:39 PM

I started long time ago .. when i signed up to be a member .. Thats it i think

P.S : By the way there is I.B courses everywhere EVEN here in egypt

NuclearMisfit 11-12-2002 05:31 PM

I found Joblo when I was searching for god. Just Kidding. I was searching for somewhere to chat about horror and I tried to go over to Upcominghorrormovies.com and I didnt really feel that I fit in and so I seen the Joblo ad and I joined. I think im a better man now because of it.

loserkid 12-02-2002 11:18 PM

well a schmoe by the name of Mr. Orange showed me the site...we were at school in media 2 class...and most of the day he'd sit there and just be on this site...so I though I'd check it out....and hey look at me now...thanks mr. orange

dannywalker17 12-02-2002 11:53 PM

I found the site a couple years ago on a search i think. i was becoming a "movie buff" and started going to the site alot, at first for reviews, then for the news, scripts, and release dates. I eventually stumbled upon the discussion board and became addicted.
