1. Requiem for a Dream
2. Gattaca
3. Magnificent 7
4. Taxi Driver
5. Lock Stock and 2 smoking barrels

I usually now that I think about it I buy 5 or 6 at a time.

Requiem For a dream
Point Break
Big Trouble in Little China

ColonelColinCaine 05-23-2001 09:55 PM

"Halloween 2", because it was only $6.96, and would be gone in six months, and "Big Trouble in Little China".

I usually get screeners up the ying yang (one of the few perks of the reviewing gig) but the last DVDs I actually plunked down money for were Chasing Amy (Criterion) and Silence of the Lambs (Criterion), which was a couple of months ago.

dh1989 06-27-2001 07:41 AM

I jsut bought two DVDs one was dissapointing the oter rocked.

The Birdcage-It was funny as hell and had a interesting 8 page booklet on the production.

Traffic-A great movie. But the DvD was extremely dissapointing with only a Showtime featurette and theatrical trailers and a sucky photo gallery.

Cyclonus 06-27-2001 03:00 PM

I just bought "Requiem For a Dream."

bskutle 06-27-2001 03:02 PM

Bring It On - Surprisingly good comedy with a lot of extras

U-571 - Again, surprisingly good - Worth 10 of that piece of crapPearl Harbor

Cherry Falls - Pretty solid slasher. Not many extras, though

I got these 'cause I only paid 30 for all 3

nemesis94 07-02-2001 04:19 PM

Jessica3000 07-02-2001 05:20 PM

My most recent DVD that I purchased was today. I bought What Lies Beneath. I love that movie, and its a great DVD!

Fettdog 07-08-2001 05:24 AM

Just picked up The Omen box set.

The first film is still a masterpiece, and worth the asking price for the commentary by Richard Donner - I'm going to pick up Superman on the strength of his commentary - the best I've heard so far (and I've got close to 50 DVDs).

A couple of good documentaries too, but haven't listened to the commentaries on Damien or The Final Conflict yet - will repor back once I have.

The Heart Collector 07-08-2001 09:37 AM

I have 2 DVDs. Two. Now isn't that special....

ClockworkOrange#1 07-08-2001 11:56 AM

The Fall Of The House Usher and The Pit and The Pendulum. These are great B movies and Vincent Price scares me.

chandler_bing905 07-08-2001 12:00 PM

-Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

-John Carpenter's The Thing: Collector's Edition

-Little Nicky

Bart Simpson 07-09-2001 12:29 PM

I picked up Wild Things and Little Nicky this weekend. I have to agree with Drew when he said that Little Nicky was the underrated DVD of the year

ClockworkOrange#1 07-09-2001 01:05 PM

Who cares how good a dvd Little Nicky is because the film itself is one of the worst movies ever created. There is not one funny part in it.

falconfilms 07-09-2001 01:11 PM

Just picked up

You Can Count on Me
North By Northwest
Apocalypse Now

APzombie 07-09-2001 01:11 PM

someguy 07-09-2001 03:11 PM

I got my DVD player in December, and the latest bought are the only ones I have! I got The Lost World: Jurassic Park 2(boring to me. never really liked those films)
Cube(I got the DVD when it first came out. Really crappy. no extras! not even the trailer for God's sake's! Just French audio, and English and French subtitles)
The Matrix(Kick-ass movie with not a lot of extras)
The Exorcist 25th anniversary(good movie and DVD)
The Cell(lots of extras with a good menu screen)
Dawn of the Dead(good zombie movie with a crappy DVD)
Deep Red(excellent movie with an intresting documentary)

Well, can you believe that I paid $30 for Cube??!! I want my money back! No one will disagree with me that I shouldn't of spent 30 beans.

The Dude 07-09-2001 04:26 PM

La Confidential, The Shining and Taxi Driver

lunchbox20 07-09-2001 09:14 PM

the last time i went to Best Buy (surprisingly good deals)i bought 2001: a space oddyssey. Note: do not buy the version with the space hotel on it.. it lacks special features. (no commentary, no interview, just a friggin' trailer!) oh i happen to have 17 dvds since i first bought one two days before the year 2000.
