The only movies that need actors to help promote their movies with interviews are smaller movies. Big budget hollywood blockbusters hardly need the help.
But blockbusters and the producers and studios will take anything they can get. They're in it for the money and if the superstar who's starring in the movie can go on TV and say I'm starring in a movie that has lots of special effects and it's funny and I'm awesome in it, then those studios will take it. They want to reach as many people as possible in hopes that as many as possible will go see their movie.
And in do so, these studios will make these actors sign a contract that says they will promote the movie. So they have to do a sh*tload of interviews and that might get frustrating and tiresome which will lead to them being pricks. Which might be unfortunate, because they're probably not (all) like that most of the time.
