The Legend of Nigger Charley (Martin Goldman, 1972)
The start of a trilogy of films bearing titles that are bound to inspire initial lulz, little do people know they might actually be worth a watch though. I haven't seen many (or any) slavery movies so maybe that's why I think this film does well to capture the journey of a newly free man and how he feels. Yes the dialogue is exploitative, but it certainly hit a nerve with me and made me think rather than simply accept the "right on!" vibe that is a trope of these films. It is slightly let down by a repetitive third act, but otherwise it's a good movie.
