You did this at Target? Doubtful, so you can not speak on their corporate policy. The clerk did not strike back and was still fired over the altercation. You can be guaranteed he would have been fired for striking back. Say what you will, rules are rules and breaking them has consequences. Depends on where you work and what those rules are.
