Rise of the Silver Surfer Rated PG with running time of 92 minutes

Quote:
Do you remember last year when there was a big announcement that Fox's huge Christmas tentpole Eragon was only going to be rated PG? Then everyone went and saw it and realized it was one of the worst movies of last year. Be ready for that all over again, this time with Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Confirmed by Fox, the film is now officially rated only PG, even lower than the upcoming Harry Potter film, and only has a running time of 92 minutes.

Originally spawned from CanMag, this story has spread quickly and been confirmed by Fox. I can only wonder how much wrath and destruction the Silver Surfer is going to bring upon earth when he can't even physically hurt… anyone?! And how did they go from being rated PG-13 for “sequences of intense action" in the first Fantastic Four to PG in the second one?

Honestly, I would really suggest you skip Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in theaters. I rarely say this, but you already know it's going to be bad, this just puts the final cap on that suspicion. Don't waste your time or money, go see Knocked Up, one of the best comedies of the year, Ocean's Thirteen, Surf's Up, or Fido instead, all much, much better choices certainly worth your money.

Unfortunate.

Does Tim Story want people to hate him? 'Cause it's working.

At least Uwe Boll adapts shit that nobody cares about.

I've always wondered about how Tim Story got to direct Fantastic Four in the first place.

How do you go from making what looked like a failure (Taxi) to a heavy special effects film budgeted at 100 million dollars?

So I guess we're only going to get them touching each other to switch powers, as far as physicality is concerned...

...and anothe prediction of "the suck" has come true.

Thank u Tim Story, u make it too easy sir.

PG rating and a "WOW" 90 minute running time?

I never thought id say this, but i hope Trasformers destroys it. At least it smacks of effort.(even if i think half the robot designs try wayyyyy too hard to be cool)

..but then again, considering how much the last one sucked ass, i dont know how anyone could have thought it was going to be THAT good.

I still have no fucking idea why Tim Story was hired in the first fucking place. I mean, look at his resume...Barbershop...Taxi..."One Of Us Tripped"...which film from his illustrious career gave your fuckers the impression that this guy could handle a big budget superhero epic?? Damn, I mean, as an aspiring black director myself, ofcourse I'm all for other black directors being given more opportunities to have more established careers that don't require them to only make films directed at a black audience (Ex. F. Gary Gray directing The Italian Job), but this guy is just an embarrassment to black directors everywhere....

Lame ass nigga......

Watching some of the TV spots, I've noticed how Michael Chiklis' performance seems even more tired in this one. It's like he's not even trying at all.

I'm not surprised by the rating (an R rated Fantastic 4 would be a little bit odd), but 90 minutes is kinda short.
I was only interested on this film for Galactus, but now with that that it he will probably be some stupid cloud I totally lost interest on this film.

i watched the extended version of 1 and enjoyed it more than i remembered.

i really dont know why these movie companies are tring to meet some age requirement. comices have been around since what 1940? i think its more likely that the vast majority of veiwers will be adult.

its like they are tring to destroy every comic franchise.

maybe the plan is to make three shity movies making billions and then give us some good ones that will make millions.it happened for superman and batman if so i wish they get the shitty movies out of the way a bit faster.

i will see ff2 opening weekend hoping for the best maybe it will be a good story that dosnt rely on cool fights to carry it !

I've heard some early reviews saying that this one is actually WORSE than the original. With a PG rating, I doubt I'll even rent this turd.

But a PG rating and 92 minute running time!? Does Fox (or tim story) hate us!?

Meh. This doesn't bother me. I mean, it's not like this is should be an epic like X-Men: The Last Stand should have been.

I didn't think Taxi was THAT bad (it's certainly not great, but I've seen much worse) and Barbershop was a good movie.

I also enjoyed the first Fantastic Four flick. That seemed to be more of a family flick, and I guess they are continuing in that direction.

And I still think this movie looks awesome.

This should be THE most epic FF story they could tell!

Its a monster with almost unlimited power that eats planets to sustain itself. It should crush X3 in scope and size.
In the comics its still known as one of the greatest stories told in all marvel comics.

...and now its reduced to shit on a stick.

Or are you being sarcastic?

Rated PG? Wow. I never saw that coming. Although the first Fantastic Four flick was a fucking abomination, I was actually planning on seeing this sequel because of the Silver Surfer and Galactus. After reading this news, I'm now thinking of avoiding it.

It looks like crap anyway.

I bet 200 hundred grand and my left nut that this movie didn't even sniff a "G" rating......

With that said however, this is very dissapointing news. Even though I believe that Tim Story did admit that his movies were geared more towards kids in a real recent interview on superherohype, but i can't find the interview now

The movie executives liked Taxi so much from their prescreenings they handed Tim Story the job right away because they felt he could make the Fantastic Four seem more "human". Bad Call on their part. I saw the executives, Tim Story and the cast talk all about this at the Comic Con right before they began filming.

There is no way that this wasn't going to be PG. THe only reason it didn't flop before was the waves of little kids that flocked to the theatre and loved it. I personally thought it was crap but every kid under the age of 12 I've talked to about this thinks otherwise.

I wa looking forward to FF2 but this news has definitely dampened my expectations. A PG rating and a 92 minute run time is pathetic. I really think to do a comic movie right at least 2 hours are needed (X3 is a perfect example why). This movie is going to feel completly rushed and most likely be a total hackjob. I am expecting this to end up being one of the worst comic movies ever which is sad since Fantastic Four is one of my favorite comics.
