Koushun Takami - Battle Royale.

Hey, I was wondering if anyone had read the BR novel. Since BR's my favorite movie, I was eventually going to read the novel (of course). I wondered if anyone has read it, is it any good/great/fantastic/explode-good?

I've read the book.

This is one of the rare occasions when I've liked the movie more than the book. Not to say that the book is bad- it's not at all. I just felt that there was nothing extra of interest in the book that wasn't in the movie (I saw the movie first). Saying that, I never finished it. I'll go back to it sooner or later.

Interesting, thanks. I also doubt the book will involve me more than the movie but I'm really interested anyway.

Same thing happend to me. I'll read it when I cant find another book. Almost word for word but then things were changed for the movie that made the situations a hell of lot better.

I've seen the movie and have the book. The only thing they changed was the ending of the tournament.

Only thing? They changed a lot more than that. For one, there's no Kitano, also, Kiriyama and Kawada are part of the classroom so it changes some of those characters' subplots, as well as others who were changed.

I know the movie is a pretty faithful adaptation, but it's better to reel in people telling them that there's a lot more to chew on in the book.
