The Prestige

has anybody read it ?

having found out that christopher nolan is adapting this into a movie I went ahead and bought the book. I must mention that this book is very interesting. I'm in the middle of it, I like the stories the two magicians tell about their early lives and careers, the only part I don't like was part 4. When one of Angier's grand daughters tells her story, although basically her story is the "outcome" of the two magicians' rivalries so that's important, but it just wasn't as interesting as the stories of the magicians.

Anways. If anybody read it..feel free to discuss.

i just finished it and i thought the modern day parts with their descendents was kind of boring but the part in the 1800's and their rise to fame kept me captivated until the conclusion. when i saw that david bowie is playing Tesla i laughed because he fits the kooky inventor perfectly. i cant wait to see how nolan turns this into a film though because the book is very non linear. i very much enjoyed the book.

I feel 100% same. The best part was in the 1800's. I couldn't stop reading, i was so into it. Unfortunately the modern day bits were lagging and uninteresting.

I cannot wait to see Nolan's take on this.

Oh, and about the non-linear thing..

Have you seen Nolan's earlier films?

The Following
Memento
even Batman Begins

all contain non-linear form. So Nolan will absolutely have no problems with that part.
