VIDEO CAPSULE: I Dreamed of Africa (2/10)

For the love of Diaz & Lopez, why-oh-why did I rent this garbage?!?!

This bumbling forgettable jaunt through Africa is not only a bad movie, but a pointless story.

Suposedly the film is based on the true story of a woman named Kookie, played by Kim Bassinger, who moved to Kenya with her son and new husband. Bassinger's character being a recent survivor of a near death experience claims her move to Africa as being her chance to make a difference in life... Whatever! The only difference she made was adding a dull blonde to Africa's landscape...

Every aspect of the movie was ridiculous, blatantly predictable and uninspiring. It's funny how Kookie learns to speak fluent Swahili in one simple scene transition. I kept thinking to myself, something GOOD must happen eventually - otherwise why would this woman's life be turned into a movie?!

I recommend this movie to those who're looking for a sedative, as the only borderline redeeming quality is the panoramic African scenery we're given the pleasure of from time to time.
