Here are 20 things mentioned in a site that they'd want changed/staying in a remake. What are yours? Quote:

I would add better limit breaks. Some characters that I really liked had pretty weak level 4 limits. All of them should either have damage break (which doesn't exist in the original game) or be able to hit multiple times (like omnislash or knights of the round). You work really hard for some of those, and they should be stronger
More difficult optional bosses - Ruby and Emerald Weapons were jokes. I like the challenge of taking on a significant boss like Yiazmat in XII. Maybe something like Battle Arena in X, where people who like the challenge can just go in and fight strong enemies. More complicated weapons and armor - I got the sense that all weapons in the same class, and all armor, were the same. The only difference was strength (or defense) and materia growth. I just feel there should be more to it, considering most modern RPGs have a lot of options in this field relative to VII (like XII or Oblivion). |

Up until this year the original FINAL FANTASY for NES was the only one I had played and completed. One of the greatest offerings for the ole system. However this year I purchased the two pack for GBA and beat the new version along with the sequel. I'll be finishing the other ones at some point but I don't know when. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Famitsu hints at Final Fantasy VII remake
Posted on September 19th, 2007 at 04:00 EDT The hype train has now reached full speed with the latest issue of Famitsu, a popular Japanese gaming magazine, hinting at a possible Final Fantasy VII remake. From the translation, Famitsu states, "A third party game that will save the PlayStation 3 in Japan is to be announced tomorrow." With all the recent rumors hitting the net lately, we can only assume they are talking about Square Enix and Final Fantasy VII (Whether or not the speculated Endless Crisis: Final Fantasy VII reported yesterday is a separate project or not is unknown, though it may simply just be the full title for a proposed remake) Also, according to rumor, the Square Enix-developed project is being fully funded by Sony Computer Entertainment. (Sony you sly dogs, you). So keep your eyes and your ears peeled at the Tokyo Game Show is about to begin. Stay tuned to PSU for all your Tokyo Game Show updates. The fact that three full Final Fantasy games will all be released within the same 12 months makes me feel warm and happy inside.

Make the junction system less complicated. Since junctioning can't be removed altogether, being it part of the plot, they can surely just help it to be not so contrived. They could also help a little with Squall's personality early on, just tone down the jackassness, plus voice acting (David Boreanaz again!) could really work for the people who don't like the character. Also fix the repetitive drawing (this is simple, just make each draw stock more than one type of spell and more of each), and you should have pitch-perfect gameplay. Quote:
If not, I'm just happy Famitsu has confirmed some "PS3 saving game", which is just great news, FFVII remake or not. |

Character tests are always fun. I'm Locke apparently, which is fine because one thing I have in common with the character is that I cover up all of my wrongdoings with comfortably neutral phrases. "Yoink!" |

Ok with this whole project devoted to FFXIII, I just wanted to throw out a question to all of you: now that FF is going to clearly shift into other genres than just RPGs with Versus XIII, what kind of Final Fantasy game would you like to see made? Personally, I would love a fighting game with all the characters from the past, so Cloud can officially kick Squall's emo-ass.

So all this time later there is still no word on whether or not there will be a VII remake?
Weak. |

Well, everyone. Take your Christmas hats off.
On December 18th, 1987, the Fantasy began. Today is the real 20th anniversary of the legendary series and one of the real reasons I love videogames like I do. So congratulations to Square, Hironobu Sakaguchi, Nobuo Uematsu, Yoshinori Kitase and everyone that's been involved with this wonderful series. ![]() And thanks! [/cheesiness] (sorry, I just adore this series) Last edited by X-Nightcrawler; 12-18-2007 at 11:29 PM.. |

Update.
1. Final Fantasy VIII (9.6/10). 2. Final Fantasy VII (9.8/10). 3. Final Fantasy XII (9.2/10). 4. Final Fantasy X (9.0/10). 5. Final Fantasy IX (?/10). 6. Final Fantasy II (8.9/10). 7. Final Fantasy (8.2/10). 8. Final Fantasy XI (N/A). Man, "Final Fantasy II" kicked ass. It was so incredibly better than the extra bland first installment. I loved the "keyword" system, and I really liked the idea behind the leveling system, though it was way too easily abused. I adored the plot that, weirdly enough was far better thought out than most games today (and it steered away from the Elemental Crystal mumbo jumbo that sticked around until V), and the added attempts at drama with so many character deaths. *spoilers* Can somoene explain what the hell happened to Leon in the end? I was totally lost. Why did he leave, again? Why was everyone so sad? *end spoilers* So now I'm just missing III-VI so I can claim major fanship. Since I have no clue where to find III and I still down own "Final Fantasy Chronicles", I'm gonna jump straight to V, then VI, and then see if someone (wink wink) can link me to some decent rom/translation of III or IV. It was also released in the US so you really shouldn't have any trouble finding an English version of it. Edit: Holy fuck I just read they are re releasing FFIV on the Nintendo DS with updated graphics. Fuck now I might have to buy a goddamn DS. Last edited by jolanar; 05-20-2008 at 11:13 AM.. |

All of them are great games with the exception of XII, XI, and VIII in my opinion.
VIII: I hated Squall, I couldn't stand him and he completely ruined the game for me. I didn't make it more than an hour or two into the game because he pissed me off that much. XI: Control system and interface just blew, turned it off after like 30 minutes, maybe I'm just spoiled by WoW? XII: Hated the shift in story line, wont spoil anything here but when this shift happens it just killed my enthusiasm for some of the characters. Plus, with the battle system the way it is the game is just playing itself, it's mastubating. |

I played Final Fantasy from FFI to FFVIII. Played a bit of FFXI in a friends house, I don't know if that counts considering that FFXI doesn't seem have an actual ending. I played FFXII, but I got bored with it and I haven't played it for a while. I don't know, some of the characters are cool and I liked the designs (Except for the main character, Stupid Nomura and his Gackt obsession...), but the plot so far just didn't "grab" me. |

I forgot to add X-2 to my list of bad FF games...and I don't think I have to explain why.

And it was meh, incredibly simplistic adn i think it was the first implementation of the Job system as well which sucked cause instead of having different jobs for different purposes you just pretty much had 3 lvl's of 4 sets of jobs that were just better then the last. Oh and defeating the final boss is as easy as giving a reach around to a silver back gorilla ![]() |

jolanar, I did play both FF and FFII on the PSP. Both solid ports (though I would've liked really updated graphics). I'm actually aware of III and IV on the DS, but I don't really own one, nor am I really planning to get one just for that. I won't skip either, but since I already own V and VI, I'll go ahead to those, then see if I can find a way to play III.
IV shouldn't be a problem. Any SNES emulator should do. . . . which is why I should just start that. Right. III is the only one that's gonna be a problem. EDIT: Yeah, I just started playing FFIV. What's funny is that Cecil's thus far been more emo than Squall ever was. Maybe my heart has become as black as my armor. Ah, good 'ol SNES cheese. Hey, everyone likes a reach around...it's just polite. However, mounting the gorilla from behind is the dificult part.
