I'm noticing it's becoming cooler and cooler to buy albums. It supposedly brands you as a true music fan, they say (and insecurely hope).

Their is so much music out there wanting and needing to be tapped, that cash compensation is optional you know.

Anyways I like buying albums when there's extra cash. Here's what I gots:

It's cool to buy albums so that you can support the bands and labels that go through all of the hard work to make the music we love possible. If no one bought albums or at least bought them digitally, alot of bands wouldn't even have the chance to exist. Sure, most bigger bands make most of their money off of touring and merchandise, but what about the lesser known bands who can't even afford to tour, or tour extensively?

Buying albums doesn't make anyone 'cooler', but sure, it makes it seem like the buyers care more about the bands who go through all of that work to entertain us. If you don't have the money for it, then thats fine but does it entitle you to obtain it for free?

Despite all of those points however, I do download music. If I like it, I buy it. If I hate it, it gets deleted.

Well I'm only 22. I do feel old now however lol. I can't even fathom being a fan of a band or singer and only 'itunes'in the single. Albums usually have more than 1-4 high quality songs. Maybe this isn't a generational thing but instead the difference between casual music fans and not so casual.

Tell me about it! This guy has taken a joke genre and made it into something groundbreaking and fresh. If the me from today went back in time and told the me from 4 years ago about the awesomeness of this album by way of trying to explain it, I probably would have beaten myself up.

My friend owns a CD store so I can get CDs a little early. I picked up Motorhead "MotoRizer" and the new Slipknot last Friday. Both are solid albums but they didnt knock my socks off or anything.

Amazing music (even if the cover art sucks). It's still blows my mind that this is the same man behind the overly commercial/pop crap that is Fleetwood Mac.
