sperry, that may be either december 22 or 29 like the first one was scheduled so close to christmas and new year's. could be earlier or way later because it didn't meet expectations.

realdvdartist, i respect you, but how in god's name did you get dates for cloudy and wild things already when one is still tearing it up and the other doesn't come out for another couple of days? unless you have a friend who can see into the future, working for the CIA or moonlights as a psychic, i guessing january could be miscalculated. i'll get them both when they street but i'm thinking early to mid february.

i have a couple of gripes about this new list that maybe someone can clear up for me. first of all, it's unfair to give flops such a shabby treatment in terms of home viewing. they did it with eddie murphy's imagine that, which was one of his better movies in years that got overlooked due to a very competitive summer season, and now they are doing it to the goods, which i thought had potential and some chuckles here and there. i don't understand why every movie can't be treated the same as all the others especially with a zero, i repeat, ZERO marketing campaign. it can't be "rent on this day, then buy it the next a month and a week later". that's not how it should work. just saying. also, i still don't understand why all these awesome movies always take so damn long to come out on bluray. it's been a very painful wait to star trek and now it's still 2 weeks left till it comes when it should have been out a long time ago. i can still wait for terminator salvation because i still have to get the other 2 ahnuld flicks for cheap (no one has them yet). all i have is the 2nd one on extreme dvd and the 3rd one on bluray. i got a big kick out of the new christian bale/mcg one and i think sam worthyofaton (whatever his name is.) he'll be around for a long time. so, that's all i had to say, hopefully everyone feels the same. thanks!

I'm afraid my friend that were gonna have to get used to it.

Dance Flick
Imagine that

From what i hear

Paranormal Activity
case 39
up in the air
the lovely bones
and several other upcoming releases

will all be rental first, sale later

its the way it used to be with VHS, and some studios might test it to see if it works with dvd

also Redbox is going up in price from 1.00 to 1.50 and 2.00 per rental

oh and look forward to the Naked gun 4 next year

i hate that... cuz the biggest reason i got into DVD way back in 1997, when the format was still really new, was because the idea of being able to purchase the titles as soon as they were released appealed to me. No more waiting for some asinine "Window". I really hope they dont revert back to those ways.

Imagine That was available for sale on Blu Ray upon its release, and Dance FLick was available to buy on Blu a month or so before the DVD came out... and since i have transitioned to blu, if that is the route they are taking, releasing the Blu Ray to purchase while the DVD is rental only, that is something i would be fine with, but can understand the frustration a lot of Home Video enthusiast would have displeasure with. It does however alienate a large market, and may end up biting them in the ass. Im sure they havnt had a big enough reaction yet, as the flicks they have done this with have been flicks that generally no one cared enough about to begin with. Was anyone REALLY pining for Imagine That or Dance FLick?! But the real test will come with Paranormal Activity if they do it with that and with The Lovely Bones im sure.

Also, im sure The Goods wont be a big release either, even though i will most likely be buying that on Blu as i saw it in theaters and thought it was Okay, nothing earth shattering, but not a bad little flick.

i'm surprised no one posted this yet, but my favorite movie of the year, district 9, got pushed up a week from the 29th to the 22nd. i may get the best buy exclusive with the MNU jacket.

also, a quick question, i picked up UP this week like i was demanded and it had previews for the toy story and beauty/beast blurays. they didn't say when they would be released or anything other than the usual "great picture and sound". stuff. does anyone have anymore info on these? thanks.

nice update good sir!

Do you have any news on that Paranormal Activity release? I remember somewhere on here someone mentioned that it may be one of Paramounts new shitty model for releasing flicks just on rental then coming to DVD and Blu Ray a month or so later.

I would like to own Paranormal Activity on Blu Ray for the new year!

will the Toy Story 1&2 re-release be in 3D??

the word going aorund here is that TS 1&2 Will both come with the cheesy
3-D Glasses. but the blu ray releases will be oh so much more

Not sure about Paranormal, but the last word i heard was its a rental on Dec 29th, and a buy sometime in mid january. Just a rumor though.

one of my favorite films is finally hitting blu ray.....Last Action hero with Arnold. dont get me wrong. it wasnt oscar material. but highly entertaining.

Hell yes on the Blu Ray for Toy Story 1&2... 100% worth the double dip for me (i have the original Toy Box Collection)

Shitty news for Paranormal, i hate the idea of reverting back to the old VHS model where consumers have to wait for sell through prices on DVD's/ Blu Rays

And of course awesome news on Last Action Hero on Blu.. the only thing that sticks is i just saw the specs and it isnt a special edition, it is just going to be in Widescreen (Finally!) and then have a Fact Track Trivia thing running on it during the course of the flick!

But Last Action Hero is an amazing flick!
