AITH Podcast #23

We promised an awesome guest for this week's Blood Bullets & Broads: The Arrow in the Head Podcast, and not only do we deliver one, but we deliver two! That's right folks, independent horror film writer / director / editor Ti West, pimping his latest project DEAD & LONELY and THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL swung by the podcast to shoot the shit and then some, talking on all sorts of things including...
  • How the IFC.com web series DEAD AND LONELY came about.
  • West's philosophy on making movies, how he applies it to horror movies, and why THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL is a period piece and not a throwback to the 1980s horror cinema.
  • The truth behind CABIN FEVER 2, and why it's not really a Ti West movie.
  • Brief details on his next project, THE HAUNTING IN GEORGIA.

After Ti departs the program, our second guest of the evening comes on and shows us how to podcast the old-school way. JoBlo Podcast host and regular columnist here at AITH Jim Law steps into the guest role for once in his life, and gets drunk in the process. Eric and I try not and abuse him too much, but we can't help ourselves. Law throws down the law and talks to us about all kinds of cool shite, including...
  • The tedious duty of being the 'Boobies of the Day' guy. It's a tough job, and only Jim Law can do it.
  • Jim's epic story about him, his brother, and THE EVIL DEAD on opening night in Detroit, MI.
  • We explore the dumbness that another SAW movie exists, and why we hope this will be the last.
  • The return of the AITH Podcast Horror BILF of the Week!
  • The awesomeness that is the DVD cover for LATE FEE.
  • Law's surprise suggestion of another kick-ass zombie comedy from the U.K
.

If having the immensely talented Ti West on the program wasn't big enough, throwing on Jim Law as the celebrity guest sweeper may have topped this week's Podcast into one of the greatest AITH Podcasts ever. Be sure to look out for West's DEAD AND LONELY over at IFC.com starting next week, and for THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL in theaters October 30th. And don't forget to check out the JoBlo Movie Podcast every Monday over at JoBlo.com for more of Jim Law.

With that in mind, sit back, relax, download the podcast below, sign up for the RSS feed, subscribe to that shit on iTunes, and get ready for the horrifying experience that is Blood Bullets & Broads: The AITH Podcast with epic special guests Ti West and Jim Law!!!

That was a fantastic show guys, even though I think it was your longest it was easily one of the most entertaining ones. Ti West certainly had some interesting things to say and it was great you got him on the show, very cool!

Can't go wrong with Jim Law either, listen to him weekly, and well twice a week this week aint nothing wrong with that!

BILF was back for a week and damn Amber Heard, what a good choice. I would turn lesbian for her in a heart beat!

Can't wait for your next week, I hear its gonna be a big one

Oh btw, you don't need a high bit rate for the file, it just basically makes the file a lot bigger, and getting close to 200mb download for an audio file is a bit much. You can easily get away with 128kbps even 112kbps, it will make the file smaller and it will not affect the quality all that much. I can go down to 68kbps with mine because lately they've gone to around 80mins and the file size is only 40mb, theres a big difference there and I haven't had any complaints about the sound quality.

Just an idea there

AITH Podcast #25 - DOLPH!!!!

As the post-Halloween episode of Blood Bullets & Broads: The Arrow in the Head Podcast, Eric and I rock it the only way we know how: by taking no prisoners and having the biggest, baddess, most epic guest come on the show to date. Pimping his latest action flick, Dolph Lundgren joins the Podcast, and we can't stop worshiping the ground the man walks on.

The film's called COMMAND PERFORMANCE, and it hits DVD and Blu-ray November 3rd, meaning it's out now at a DVD store near you, and you best go out and pick up a copy if you know what's good for you. During Dolph's stay at the Podcast, he talks about:

  • How the idea came about for COMMAND PERFORMANCE. One word: Madonna.
  • Dolph dishes his most influential directors. One word: Stallone.
  • He talks about his roles in THE EXPENDABLES and UNIVERSAL SOLDIER 3, and what he says will have you counting down the days until both come out.
  • Dolph entertains us, even though we know we'll never be as manly or badass as he is.

After we chat it up with Dolph, we continue on the Podcast in a star-struck daze. Or maybe we're hungover from all the booze and candy we consumed Halloween night. Either way, we continue the post-Halloween show with...

  • The lowdown of what we did Halloween night.
  • The final update as to Eric's 31 days of horror, including his top 5 picks.
  • We talk the current state of action in our WTF segment, where BLOOD AND BONE, COMMAND PERFORMANCE, and BLACK DYNAMITE are all discussed.
  • A showdown of the box office numbers is brought to the table. The prize: a shitty DVD. Oh, it's on!
  • The Nerdcore 2010 Calendar contest winner is announced! Are you the lucky winner? You gotta tune in to find out.

We're still in awe having the great Dolph Lundgren on the Podcast, and we're contemplating shutting the whole show down now as we can't see how anything else can top this. COMMAND PERFORMANCE is an awesome take on the DIE HARD genre of action movies, and a fun ride all around. It was great having the man on and hearing about THE EXPENDABLES and UNIVERSAL SOLDIER 3, and we can't wait to have him on again (he promised he would!).

With that in mind, sit back, relax, download the podcast below, sign up for the RSS feed, subscribe to that shit on iTunes, and get ready for the horrifying experience that is Blood Bullets & Broads: The AITH Podcast with epic special guest Dolph Lundgren!

AITH Podcast #26 - Friday the 13th Part 2 Commentary!

This Friday is Friday the 13th, and in its honor Blood Bullets & Broads: The Arrow in the Head Podcast decided to do something a little different. Along with special guest Mike Catalano, we decided to do a AITH Podcast first: record a full-length feature commentary on FRIDAY THE 13th PART 2!

That's right folks, we recorded a commentary track to the flick and you can play along too! Cue up your own copy of PART 2, and join Eric, Mike, and I as we watch one of our favorite FRIDAY's ever (and hear Mike's cherry popped as it's his first time viewing the flick in its entirety), and celebrate all that is FRIDAY the 13th! Some of the crap we discuss include...
  • What type of GPS devise Jason must have used to travel all the way to the city to take his first victim.
  • The irony that PART 2 takes place 5 years after PART 1. And you thought JASON X was the first one to take it into the future!
  • Why was Sackhead Jason was ditched for the hockey mask? He seems to rock that sack pretty well here.
  • Is the dog at the end a zombie? A look-alike? Or was the person in charge of continuity out that day?

Favorite kill from PART 2... and possibly the entire series.
But don't worry, if you don't wanna watch PART 2 with us, you can still enjoy the Podcast, as we continue with our regularly scheduled program amidst all the wheelchair killings and cut-off T-shirts.
  • An update from Mike about one of the best DVD he's reviewed for the DVD Pub to date.
  • Eric's epic triple-feature he took in this week, including some Dolph Lundgren, Steven Seagal, and DMX.
  • A listener sends me some Miller High Life Gear points and I can't stop talking about all the cool shite you can get stamped with the High Life brand.

But we don't stop there. Commentary on FRIDAY THE 13TH: PART 2, regular AITH Podcast Shenanigans, and... the second AITH Caption-the-Pic Contest! We're giving away a special DVD treat this week, and all you have to do is head over to my MovieFanCentral page and Caption THIS PIC for your chance to win your very own copy of THANKSKILLING, hitting DVD shelves everywhere next Tuesday (November 17th)!

So what are you waiting for? Head THIS WAY, Caption said pic with something funny enough to make Eric and I chuckle, and you could win your very own copy of THANKSKILLING, just in time for the holiday season. What can I say, Eric and I are easy!

With that in mind, sit back, relax, download the podcast below, sign up for the RSS feed, subscribe to that shit on iTunes, and get ready for the horrifying experience that is Blood Bullets & Broads: The AITH Podcast, the FRIDAY THE 13TH: PART 2 commentary special edition with guest Mike Catalano!!

AITH Podcast #27 - Super Marcey!

We're back into the swing of things this week on Blood Bullets & Broads: The AITH Podcast, and to show we haven't lost our magically horrifying touch, we have a new guest on the show--an AITH Podcast first! Super fan of the site, super fan of the AITH Podcast, and super cool Aussie Super Marcey joins the Podcast this week, and all we can say is: wow!

Not only is Super Marcey the first fan of the Podcast we've had the pleasure to talk to, but she's also the show's first female guest, proving we're finally true to our word with the BROADS part of the title. While on the show, Eric & I discuss with Super Marcey...
  • How long has Super Marcey been a fan of Arrow in the Head?
  • Super Marcey has her own Super Podcast? Tell us more!
  • Does Super Marcey really listen to the Podcast naked?
  • What is it like to live in the future (i.e., Australia)?

After our chat with Super Marcey, she sticks around for the remainder of the Podcast in which we touch on...

  • Our complete dismay over NEW MOON and all things TWILIGHT.
  • An update from Eric on what he's doing in Toronto this week.
  • We check out more action movies this week, including THE TOURNAMENT, UNIVERSAL SOLDIER, and THE BOONDOCK SAINTS II.
  • We do a Podcast first: a mini-book review of Mr. Skin's SKINCYCLOPEDIA.
  • We announce the winner of the Caption-the-Pic contest for the THANKSKILLING DVD!

We couldn't have been happier with our guest this week as she already feels like one of the Arrow in the Head / JoBlo.com family. We'd like to thank Super Marcey for taking the time (from the future) to be on the Podcast, and ask that you check out SUPER MARCEY'S SUPER BLOG and SUPER MARCEY'S SUPER PODCAST if you're looking for more of that Aussie accent. And if you're so inclined, hit her up over at MovieFanCentral and say hello!

With that in mind, sit back, relax, download the podcast below, sign up for the RSS feed, subscribe to that shit on iTunes, and get ready for the horrifying experience that is Blood Bullets & Broads: The AITH Podcast, with guest Super Marcey!!

Loved the Friday the 13th podcast. Was definitely great. Wasn't able to watch it along since I don't have access to my dvd collection at the moment but it was still enjoyable. Currently listening to the current episode. It's pretty cool since Marcey is just a casual schmoe.
