excellent! A blu-ray criterion edition of Stagecoach is a dream. Same for a blu-ray Walkabout (the only really great Roeg film). The Oshima eclipse looks promising as well.

Not to mention Fritz Lang's M in high def. A true masterpiece.

I've never seen Walkabout, always meant to, but that cover is fuckin' rad. Now I feel obligated to.

And Stagecoach is, of course, great.

I already have the criterion reissue of M, so I don't think I'll pick it up on blu, though I'm sure it'd look great.

Yeah that Walkabout cover has to be one of my favourite Criterion covers in quite a while.

Eh, I liked the purple-and-pinkish sky in the original cover better.

Revanche is excellent, I already have it ordered on Blu-Ray with Pierrot (since it's going out of print, I wanted Hunger or Paris Texas instead)

It's sort of like The Son by way of Kieslowski, but with a only very good opening. Worth the watch for the last hour though.

thats odd. i have the crumb special edition. its very nice, the commentary by roger ebert is one of the best out there. what can they do to make it a better edition (other than a blu-ray release)?

sure this isn't the fritz the cat movie? Crumb hated the film, but it did gross a crapload. Can't say if it was any good, as i haven't seen it.

Well, the newsletter does say that Terry Zwigoff will soon be represented in the collection, so with that cartoon it seems like it would have to be Crumb they're referring to.

Just picked up Pierrot le Fou and Hunger on blu-ray last week...Got to take a look at a few scenes from Hunger on my former roommate's beautiful 53" 1080p LCD and I must say the transfer is absolutely stunning. The grain is retained in that perfect filmic way and the level of detail is stunning.

Watched Fritz the Cat a couple of years ago and was underwhelmed. I had heard so many fantastic things about it; overall it bored me. Although it has lost some luster over the years I guess it deserves some recognition, it was fairly groundbreaking in the whole "Cartoons aren't just for kids anymore" sort of way.

Holy shit. A blu-ray criterion edition of The Thin Red Line would indeed be the home release of the decade

Nice! As we have at least one other Malick film on Criterion, I'd welcome The Thin Red Line, especially that rumoured six hour version!

Damn. I've seen part of the film and it looks beautiful on standard DVD. A Criterion Blu-Ray would be pretty unbelievable.

June titles announced!

Close-up (1990) directed by Abbas Kiarostami

Everlasting Moments (2008) directed by Jan Troell

Mystery Train (1989) directed by Jim Jarmusch

Red Desert (1964) directed by Michelangelo Antonioni

Night Train to Munich (1940) directed by Carol Reed

A jam-packed month full of instant buys if the cash is readily available. Very excited about Night Train to Munich and Mystery Train most of all.

It's a masterpiece!

But everything here has been shadowed by the fact that The Thin Red Line is getting Criterion treatment!!! Are you kidding me?! I really hope it's not coming out on Blu Ray alone. Has this been news for a while?

^^^^ That was a serious question guys. Doesn't anyone know if this is official and if it will be out on regular DVD as well as Blu Ray?

nothing actually is 'official' with the thin red line in the same sense that mystery train and close-up are official. it doesn't have a press release or notes on it for the moment. the best we can go by at this clue-

aside from this, they haven't revealed anything. though its pretty obvious that it is going toward the thin red line, since its a thin red lion, and since he is feeling red and blue, we can assume it will be on both regular dvd and blu-ray. we actually don't even know if it is mallick's version or the original version, though in all likelihood it is mallick's.

Looks like Lars Van Trier's Anti Christ is getting the Criterion treatment! I was hoping they would nab that one.

I love the name they gave to the image. Easily the funniest film I saw last year. Didn't like it otherwise though.

Wow, that's pretty great. I saw Antichrist....interesting is the only thing I can say to it. The Criterion edition could have some great and fascinating extras. Does Von Trier do commentaries?

I hope Enter The Void can get a release. I haven't even seen the film and I can already see how great it is.

Has any body seen this movie with Ed Harris called Walker? I saw the Criterion edition of it and I was just wondering if it was worth it. I'm pretty sure it's awesome, Ed Harris is one of my favorite actors and he hardly disappoints. I just wasn't sure about shelling out the 35 bucks at Best Buy for it.

Never seen it but I'd just keep my eyes open for Barnes & Noble's Criterion sale later this year. They always do a 50% off one. That's what I'm doing.

Cool man, thanks for the advice. I did not realize Barnes and Noble did that.

Does this include their online store? My Barnes & Noble has a terrible selection of DVDs in store.

Fucking awesome! I thought this wasn't gonna happen cause when they first announced the IFC-Criterion deal, I remember reading something about Antichrist not being one of the films.

One step closer hopefully for Enter the Void on Criterion as well

Yeah. Also, keep an eye out for Amazon.com as well. They periodically do similar sales as well.
