before I comment on this week's games I actually got the chance to watch football the whole day(I booked it off)

First off FUCK YOU DALLAS HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After watching my team kick you ass again and get 7 measley points for a offense that is supposed to be one of the best in the league HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK YOU YOU OVERRATED ASSHOLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now to the rest of the games

Houston good for you finally beating Indy if Schaub stays healthy and Adrian Foster looks like a beat they look like for real

Detroit I understand the ruling on the TD at the end but I still hate it it's stupid and bullshit and I understand if every Lions fan is really upset and pissed off and feels like they were robbed of a win

Kevin Kolb I love it when the media's hype blows up in their face Kolb was given a top 10 QB spot before this season started and Vick came in and outplayed him and I really believe should be the starter and not Kolb.

That's all I can think off for now after 8-10 beer already in my system haha.

As the guy who owns Rodgers and Finley in the pool, I am also disappointed. I'm sure they'll get over it, but it was a rocky start.

Also, epic ending to the Cowboys/Skins game. EL OH EL.

in reference to the lions call...
The rule is that a reciever must maintain posession of the ball when he hits the ground. Ball came loose, no touchdown. Rules a rule. It may not seem fair, but it was the right call. The Lions reciever is the moron who didnt put two hands on the ball when he was fully capable of doing so.

How about our defense holding a supposed top 5 offense and a top 5 QB and a supposed super bowl contender to 7 points.

Keep in mind McNabb who didn't play the final 2 preseason games looked alright at times but seemed to find some rythym with Moss and Cooley who were his top 2 targets tonight I think the offense improves as time goes on.

I'm also a Packers fan dude, but try not to be too upset with the way they played. For one, it's opening day, it's always hard to get a win on opening day. And especially if you're on the road, and ESPECIALLY in someplace like Philadelphia. And how can you say an offense that puts up 27 points played terribly? Sure they didn't score on every drive but it's unrealistic to assume that each game the Packers are going to score 40+ points or whatever. Aaron Rodgers didn't have his best game... so what? One of his bad days is still good enough to get the win, and hopefully he's gotten it out of his system now. So yeah, just because they didn't come out and absolutely dominate doesn't mean you should be disappointed with how they played.

Well it;s not a big deal to me. We played a similar game last year and barely won 7-6. But after that the Skins won 4 games, we won 11. The 'Skins always play us tough - as they say, it's their superbowl.

The new 3-4 defense looked good tonight and the o-line seemed to "get" Shanahan by the end of the game. However, the 'Skins still didnt score a single TD on offense. I'm still not particularly worried about the Redskins this season.

Thoughts on other games.

The Detroit call was bullshit. They got SCREWED over by the refs at the end.

Kolb performance in the game was bad from what I've watch. Green Bay did very well but worse than I thought they were.

Texans was a surprising game victory over the Colts. They could be real as the media and fans are predicting them. Better watch out for them.

Chris Johnson still the best in the league as of right now for RB.

Steelers-Falcons was closer and low-scoring than I thought it would be.

Seahawks, another team that wow me this week. Could they be in the running for the NFC West?

That all for now. Talk about the Ravens-Jets game later.

This is such BS dude. He had complete control the whole play. Anyone could see that.

CJ is not a moron, he just caught the game winning TD, the ref that he could see, signaled TD. He let go of the ball after the play SHOULD have been over. Game over Lions win.

If he bobbled it even once, I would be ok with the call. He didn't. The ball came out after he maintained control, and fell on his ass, and knee. The ground can not cause a fumble.

If this was any other team, the Refs would have called it a TD. Remember that Saints TD in the Super Bowl? Yeah.

Here's the full interpretation of the rule in terms of the Calvin Johnson TD catch that was taken away from him

Rule 8, Section 1, Article 4.

A play from start to finish is a process. When you go to the ground, even after you've caught the ball, you have to maintain possession.

The rule states: If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball after he touches the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, the pass is complete.

Even though I think its a stupid rule and I hate it since it costs the Lions the game as much as I hate to say it when you read that it's the right call.

I think after that game this rule will get changed or adapted after the season.

I have read that. I still think he did that. The play was already ruled a TD by the nearest Ref. Only after that CJ lost the ball.

Regardless, it's a moot point. If that play had happened to any other team, it would and of course should, have been ruled a TD. Because it was a TD. Ah well, I guess us Lions fans should be used to getting fucked over.

Screamer, I feel for ya dude. That call was absolutely stupid and I wish the Detroit coach would of went off on a curse filled rant during his post game conference. I am sure he kept his mouth shut cause criticizing the refs is a huge fine.

I dont think Packers should be worried at all. Like smok mentioned, the Pack were playing in one of the most hostile stadiums in the NFL. Fans need to remember that this is the big leagues. For a team to put up 40 points in any game is incredibly hard to do. Its not like college football where the competion is so unbalanced. There are no style points in the NFL, which is why I love it so much. Just win baby.

The AFC South should be a really interesting division to watch this year. It wont just be a cake walk for the Colts this season.

C'mon man this is a bullshit comment. I really doubt the fact that it was the Lions had anything to do with the call. I will agree that that was a catch if ever I've seen one, but the rule says what it says, and unfortunately in this situation it says it wasn't a catch.

You obviously dont understand the rule according to the nfl.
Like i said before, the call wasnt fair, but it was the correct
call going by the NFL rulebook.
He had it in one hand, when the ball hit the ground it came loose.
In order for it to have been a completion, the ball cannot come loose.
It is clear watching the replay that he didnt just let go.
The ball was in his hand, but when it came in contact with the ground it was jarred loose;
therefore, being an incompletion.

If it were my call I would say touchdown, but its not my call nor yours for that matter. Detroit got robbed on a technicality...deal with it.

I actually think the coach is a very classy man for saying what he said. That takes true composure and selflessness to do that. Every coach should take a note from this man. Also I agree with your assessment on the AFC South Echo. The Colts are still favorite with the Texans finishing a close 2nd and Titans and Jags 3rd and 4th. Texans looked like a legit playoff team yesterday and while Manning had an unbelievable day passing the ball, their defense got shredded with the run game. Also watching the Jags pretty much manhandle the Broncos, I was quite impressed with David Garrard's performance. It really is a wide open race in th AFC South this year.

I didn't know this was a rule until that play happenned.

BTW Didn't get to see the Ravens-Jets game except the end and 2 things

1. Dustin Keller know where the 1st down marker is

and

2. I saw the stats of the Jets offense did the Ravens D play that well or is the Jets offense that pathetic.

And right now watching the Chargers-Chiefs game man the Chiefs are owning their ass right now WOW!!!

A few thoughts on week 1.

Detroit got robbed. I don't care if it was called according to the rule book. It's common fucking sense, you watch that play and know it was a touchdown.

It's only week one but I'm going to go ahead and say I was correct in saying the Jets and Cowboys are vastly over rated. The Jets barely made the playoffs last year and don't have a good QB. The Cowboys have Romo and Wade Phillips. I don't think either team does better than last year. Shit, Jet's won't make the playoffs.

Green Bay disappointed in their win. When this team starts churning on all cylanders the rest of the league is in trouble. They're going to the Superbowl and winning it.

I don't want to jinx it but... the Texans look fucking good. Finally.

Ravens are my pick for the AFC Champ.

49ers suck... Seahawks suck even more. Pete Carrol shouldn't have been as giddy as he was after every play. When he plays a real team I think he'll learn not to celebrate like that in the real football league.

Half time and the Chiefs look like the best in their division. Who the fuck saw that coming?

It's official! Chris Johnson > AP

I have a feeling the playoff picture in both conferences is going to look dramatically different from last year.

Oh... and I lost all my damned bets! Fucking week 1 bullshit! A special thank you to the Colts, Falcons, and 49ers. Fucking losers.

As I'm sure you know, I share your hatred of the Dallas Cowboys, horrorfreak. I couldn't be happier that the Redskins defeated them on Sunday night. I watched the game surrounded by Cowboys fans, and I cheered rather loudly when the Redskins' victory was official. The Cowboys fans gave me evil looks, but I didn't give a damn. I was so excited. What a fucking awesome kick-off to the Mike Shanahan/Donovan McNabb era in Washington.

Other Thoughts:

-- How about those Chiefs?! Prior to the start of the season, I referred to the Chiefs as my "sleeper team" for the 2010 NFL Season. After watching last night's Chargers/Chiefs game, which was easily the best game of Week 1, I think I'm on to something. The Chiefs looked pretty good, offensively and defensively. With coordinators Romeo Crennel and Charlie Weis, GM Scott Pioli, QB Matt Cassel, a smart head coach in Todd Haley, and a promising defense including Mike Vrabel, I predict the Chiefs will have a solid season this year. I know it's only one game, one week, but they are a threat to the AFC.

-- By the way, I'm glad the Chiefs won, because I fucking hate the Chargers.

-- The refs made the right call at the end of the Lions/Bears game. Do I agree with the rule? Not really. But was the rule properly enforced? Yes.

-- Kevin Kolb? Who the FUCK is that?!?! [end sarcasm.] Alright, alright...I may know who Kevin Kolb is, but he certainly didn't showcase much talent, skill, or ability. He looked godawful, as far as I'm concerned. If I was calling the shots in Philadelphia, Michael Vick would be the new starting QB. Why do the Eagles have so much faith in Kolb?

-- Thumbs up for the Jets defense, thumbs WAY down for the Jets offense. Offensively speaking, the Ravens outperformed them. 20 First Downs for the Ravens, and only 6 for the Jets. What the fuck, NYJ?!

-- Does anyone seriously believe the Bengals' "Batman & Robin" WR pair of Terrell Owens and Chad JOHNSON is going to work? I don't. And I'm not saying this because of their loss to the fucking Patriots. I just never bought into the hype, and I still don't.

-- A "disappointing" performance by the Green Bay Packers? I completely disagree. They looked good out there. I don't think Brett Favre will be able to stop the Packers from winning the NFC North this season.

-- My favorite team, the Indianapolis Colts, lost to the Houston Texans. FUCK YOU, COLTS!!! The Colts looked pathetic, whereas the Texans looked like a team that's ready to finally get into the post-season. I'm still pissed, though. And don't tell me "it's only week one," because that will only make me angrier. FUCK YOU, COLTS!!!

-- Pete Carrol's Seattle Seahawks beat the shit out of the 49ers. As KingofKings said above, it's nothing to get excited about. There's 15 games left in the season. I won't deny the fact that they looked good on Sunday, but I want to see how they fair against a much tougher opponent.

-- Lastly, whoever decided to make Trent Dilfer the color commentator for the Chargers/Chiefs game should be fired. I can't stand Trent Dilfer.

Loved the win and all the media laughing at Dallas the past 2 days and if we beat Houston next week 3-0 for us is a possiblity since the Rams are our week 3 opponent

Kansas City plays Cleveland and San Francisco the next 2 weeks 3-0 going into their bye week is a possibility watching them play I was really impressed.

I was impressed with the way KC played last night, but they won't go into the postseason with Matt Cassel at QB. He is not the future there, they need to look into someone else.

I was confused by those three plays with Tebow. Not sure what the goal of putting him out there was. He was even lined up as a wide out...hmmm....
I really hope they give him a full year to learn the system, and then see if he breaks out or bombs.

I still think Orton is better than all but the elite QBs.

Oh no doubt. The Lions' coach is all class. Kudos to him for taking the high road. It sucks that on top of that tough loss, Stafford is gonna be out at least 4 weeks. Man, they just cant catch a break.

Yeah, the AFC South should be very interesting to watch this year. Will the Texans FINALLY emerge as a playoff team? Or will they clammer up and fold down the road?

And fuckin A! I loved seeing the Jets lose!! Never gets old No offense to any respectable Jets fans on here, but its soooo easy to hate that organization. A bunch of loudmouth pricks that have been hyping themselves up all off season. And dont even get me started on their asshole of a head coach. What a fat piece of shit! (there is talks that Rex "Jabba the Hut" Ryan and the Jets Offensive Coordinator got into a shouting match after the loss (both had to be restrained apparently). God, I hope that is true and I would love nothing more to see the Jets implode. They have the Pats next, then at Miami (for the Fins home opener) Good chance they could start 0-3...the NYC media will eat them alive if that happens.

First off, on the Detroit call, it was absolutely the correct call according to the rule. Is the rule screwed up? Of course. But here's my question: If Johnson had caught the ball cleanly in the air, landed on his back in the endzone and the ball popped off his chest and onto the ground, it's be an incompletion and no one would have any problem with that. So how to you differentiate between that and what happened? Clearly we can't rely on the common sense of refs, so while I agree it's a screwy rule, I've yet to hear a better option.

And here's the most important fact of the whole situation: This is Calvin Johnson's fault. You know why this has never happened before? Because almost all receivers are smart enough to know that you must catch and cradle the ball. Johnson smashed it onto the ground like he was trying to pop it. I don't care if he was excited, you're a fucking NFL player, catch the ball and don't leave room for doubt.

All of that said, I do respect the hell out of the Detroit coach for handling it as he did. He's absolutely right.

In other news...

I was at the Chiefs game. The crowd was phenomenal, but the team was not. Maybe it's the ultra-conservative play calling, but Cassell looked below mediocre. They scored on a big run and on special teams. They benefited much more than Sad Diego did from the bad weather. Props on the goal line stand at the end, but they aren't going to win a ton of games that way. Also, they MUST beat Cleveland to be considered anything at all. If they lose, they fall to 1-and-1, which is exactly what people expected of them (just the other way around). To lose to Cleveland would essentially nullify the SD victory. Yes, Cleveland is awful, but if the Chiefs don't come to play they won't win.

Simmons pointed this out in his article today, but the Jets are a fraud. They talk and never walk. They aren't making the playoffs. Neither are the Vikings.

I'm surprised I haven't commented on this thread. I'm a big time NFL fan and Washington Redskins fan.

I have a few thoughts on last week.

- Detroit got screwed over with the dumbest rule in the NFL. Nearly everyone agrees It's a touchdown.

- I fucking LOVED last week's Redskins' win over the Cowboys but I have some reserves. Our defense looked great until that final drive. Our offense looks steady but not being able to score touchdowns is a huge problem. Time and time again, relying on field goals and defensive points has haunted us.

- The Ravens and Jets game was an absolute bore. The Jets are usually the most overrated team in the NFL. Almost as bad as the Cowboys in terms of media coverage and hype. I was happy to see the Ravens completely shut the down.

The Redskins can NEVER CLOSE a fucking game if their lives depended on it. They have a shit history in the last years of dominating a game. They were up 20-7 at one point and pissed that away...

The Jets did better than I expected. Their defensive shut down my Pats most of the game mostly the second half.

I just hope the Dolphins beats them next week and I'm not a fan of the fins at all. I'm just sick of the Jets. Rooting for the lesser of the two evils.

Exactly.

The Redskins dropped the fucking ball. They SHOULD have won the game, but they gave up their lead. Also, I don't know why Mike Shanahan didn't call a time-out before or during Neil Rackers' game-winning FG in OT. I don't think that was a smart decision by Shanahan. I would've called for a time-out.

Anyway...

Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears outperformed the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys are now 0-2! Also, the Patriots lost to the J-E-T-S....Jets, Jets, Jets! A very surprising victory for the Jets, in my opinion, especially when you think about their o-line's dreadful performance last Monday night against the Ravens.

Kansas City Chiefs are now 2-0. And guess who else is 2-0? The Bucs. WTF?!?!?!?!

Minnesota Vikings = UGH!
