i saw fudge 44 yesterday for the second time, but really the first time because the only oter time i saw it was at a party and I was stoned and tired and kept drifting in and out of consciousness. i remembered it later and wasn't sure if it had actually been on the screen or if it was just something i saw for a second and then dreamt the rest. it took me over a year to find the actual title of it and watch it, turns out it's available in full on youtube.
to those who know nothing about it, it's a mockumentary based on an urban myth about something that is supposed to have happended in Tokyo Japan in the early eighties. I don't know how much of the story is true, but one thing is for sure it's definitely enthralling. it kind of sucks you in. your not even sure what it means or what is happening but after a while you realised that it's really gotten into your head - just not in the normal way a film does.
many japanese people are interviewed in the film, and their words translated by an english voiceover, which adds to how surreal it all is it's very surreal and kind of just unnerving more than anything else. you get the sense of these little creatures running around in tokyo and scaring people.
