the personality behind the screen name "bob" (who will remain unnamed) is the one who got mee on it. we had just gone to see Die Another Day, and when we went back to his house (whose whereabouts will remain unnamed) he wrote a review for it on joblo. and as i watched him i was like, "whoa, that looks like it could be fun." so I signed up the next day. wasn't that a cute little story?

I was talking to a friend about movies...and he asked I had ever been to joblo.com...I stared blankly and said "uh...no. What's that?" and he told me to just look. So I did. Started coming constantly...then...and heh (wipes away tear) then I found the boards. Didn't sign up to post until recently...but I've been following them for a good while.

My friend Isaac told me about this site in the spring and I didn't care all that much. Then one night I was bored and I decided to check it out again and I found the Discussion Board. Since then, I have been loving every minute of being a member. Finally people who love movies as much as me all in one place

I found this site a long time ago after doing a horror search and found the Arrow's forum--since then--I just can't seem to get away--I think they put something in the kool-aid

Same here man. I though The Arrow was just another independently run horror website. Ya know the ones you'd find all over the web.

I stumbled upon Arrow's section (ironic since I don't like horror movies) and eventually realized as I would type the .com/arrowinthehead part in the search bar that it was a section of a larger site, so I went to it. A smart decision on my part, since I've enjoyed the site for about 2 years now, and good for everybody else (cause really, would the site be the same without me?)

I was a member of the Moby message boards and would post on there, but I was really into movies and they didn't have a lot of movie threads there so I went on Google and searched for Movie Discussion Boards and Joblo's was the only one that actually had a lot of traffic and was civilized, and that's how all you came to be graced with my presence.

It was actually by some far chance that I got here. I had typed in "Comics" at Yahoo.com, when a link for "Movie-comics.com came up. I went in, read comics for a while, until I came upon one with JoBlo, and a link to his site. I came in here, looked around, and before I knew it, I was here every day, reading his reviews, a couple months later, I finally joined the board.

*whew.

"Making your way in the world today takes everything you got. Taking a break from all your worries would sure help alot. Wouldn't you just like to get away. Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name and their always glad you came. You wanna be where you can see, troubles are all the same. You wanna be where everybody knows your name. You wanna go where people know, people are all the same. You wanna go where everybody knows your name"

Peace,
Matt

Maybe 10 years ago, I had computer access at work and was bored one night -- started looking up information about the 82 references in Magnolia.

Along the way, I discovered there was a #82 mason lodge in Magnolia, Arkansas. I thought that was funny, so I submitted it to the IMDb trivia, but still felt there was more discussion to be had. I'd always talked about movies more than my friends, and even in film classes, always wanted to analyze more than my peers.

Being aware of the IMDb forums, I started to wonder if there were other sites that had the same service, but with a better level of conversation and good sense -- hopefully more intelligence and less trolling. (a term I didn't even know at the time) Figuring since I was at work and bored, it made sense to seek out some likeminded folks.

Doing some searching, I believe actually using Dogpile (if anyone remembers that one) I happened upon these forums and started checking out the posts. Everyone seemed to have their heads on and had a lot to offer, so I registered using two words that I was seeing being the computer monitor. Way too many posts, way too much down time at work, dozens of requests to join other forums, lots of eMeeting interesting personalities, a couple tweeks on my user to keep up to date, and so much history.

Thought this might be a fun thread to bump with all the new schmoes since the day this thread went inactive.

Thanks. I can't believe I recalled it, or even more that I never posted in it. Not that I don't appreciate the earnest compliment, but are you reluctant to share how you found the boards, or is it just not that interesting? Even if you don't think it's that interesting, I'd like to read about it - as well with others. Like I mentioned before, that was my whole reasoning for bumping the thread.

Good bump! wouldn't have found this otherwise. I was told about this website by someone I didn't really know all that well. I decided to join, why not? I joined about a year or two ago, but I never really used the site that much. However, unfortunately, i am the only film fanatic out of all my friends, so i don't really get a chance to talk about film all that much. I even tried going to film school but left because i felt that none of my fellow peers took it seriously. I am here today to make new friends who I can talk movies with. So far I'm very much enjoying this forum and everything it has to offer. This is the only social networking i do haha!

I was disappointed to find out that I had never posted in this thread because as of now, I can't remember how I found this website. It just seems like one of those constants that's been a habit of mine forever. Great seeing all the old familiar names, bittersweet actually.

Sorry. I have actually been lurking daily on this forum since 2001 (i should have joined then). Then I would have been a member for 10 years instead of 5 years. If I had known back then what I do now. That all of you are a bunch of movie-geek knuckle-heads, who I have come to not only respect, but thoroughly enjoy being amongst, I would be a long term member. Luv all you Schmoes and Schmoettes. All of you guys seriously rock. I mean that.

Now to your question. I used to collect movie wallpapers. And I googled for some. JB's name was first for some reason. I spent many years in the movie wallpaper section on this awesome site. I would then scope out the forums and see what was cookin'. Then after 5 years (still can't believe I took that long), I took the plunge and registered. I felt very out of place among all you guys and gals for the longest time. Only recently have I felt truly at home here. Since then I have never really looked back.

By the way. Just so you all know, I am a female, not a guy...
Spoiler:
HAHAHA GOTCHYA!!!

I honestly don't remember - I think I just happened to find this place by accident. I've been a reader since 1998 and a member since 2003 or 2004 (I can't remember)... I'll be a member and a reader until the site shuts down. Joblo FTW.

I was an admin/moderator on another forum board site, and my husband saw how much I enjoyed it and went in search of his own..
being a total movie buff, he searched 'movie forum'...and viola! =)

then when I got a pretty scary stalker on my last forum site, I left.

hubby suggested I join his, and eventually I did.
