Can't see the pics, LiS. It sounds like you had a blast. How many shows were you able to hit? Minus one year, I'd always make it down for at least a couple days back when I lived in the area. I haven't been since '04. My first speeding ticket was actually coming back from WMC, getting hit right at the last overpass before Alligator Alley. I kicked myself the entire ride home over that one.

You have a lot of good stuff here, and cool to hear about your trip. I hope you were able to get a good 30-36 hours of sleep afterwards.

With the exception of Pendulum I mainly stuck to the trance shows. I really don't like naything Tiesto did after 2000 or so, so I skipped him. Avicii, David Guetta, AVB, ATB, Sander Van Doom, Ferry Corsten and co were all fucking great.

I went with my girlfriend, and there were a few really weird moments. one including a former member of my World of Warcraft Arena team with whom I played a couple of tournaments texting me and telling me he was there and meeting up for a drink with him. This required my old lady to find out I was once a bigger nerd than I am now.

That's cool you got to meet up with your friend, and funny - I can imagine that awkward moment like, "Hi, I'd like you to meet Highlander_478. We slay together."

Holy crap, I looked up to see if I was familiar with anything from Tiesto in the 2000s and had no clue he had put that much stuff out. Looking back, it does seem most of what we'd listened to was from at the latest early-2000s and mostly from the 90s. I'm actually not as familiar with the later-2000 house and trance acts, as I started leaning more toward more electro influenced acts like Miss Kittin at the start of the millenium (ha - I think that's the first time I've referred to that time period like that...)

As it stood I leaned toward trance as well, in terms of what I liked hearing on the dance floor. Rabbit in the Moon holds a lot of good memories for me. House music, I'm not much of a fan of - I mean, I'll dance to it and stuff, but the things like the vocal melodies and so forth are usually a bit too "waving my hands in the air" for me. Drum and Bass is okay. I saw Roni Size at the first WMC. This is always stuff I liked seeing live more than hearing out of the studio.

As far as studio albums for listening to casually, I always liked ambient and industrial type acts like The Orb and Future Sounds of London. There's actually a good list I could go off, but a lot of it isn't as current as your recommendations, so thanks for giving me some stuff to check out.

The Field, though, is one newer electronic act I've been very impressed by. They are more in the ambient spectrum, I guess, but they remind me a lot of The Orb in the early years.
