I'll be honest, i'm not impressed with what we've seen for Dark Knight Rises. The newest trailer we got a few months back did nadda for me. I'm having more fun playing Arkham city than caring about Dark Knight Rises.
They need to throw something more appealing out there.

I actually like the secrecy and the hushed up marketing so far. The Avengers are throwing everything at us now: posters, clips, interview snippets ... overload is happening while TDKR is biding its time, preseving its energy like a sleeping giant and letting others unsuspecting fools like The Avengers and Prometheus hog the spotlight until the marketing monster is unleashed and the people go bananas.

So that means you're not going to go and see it in theaters when it comes out?

Yeah, I thought so.

The makers don't have to try so hard with TDKR.

The Dark Knight Rises Gets PG-13 Rating

This news should come as no surprise. The Dark Knight Rises has been given a PG-13 rating from the MPAA, according to Warner Bros. 411 Distributor Service. Both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight were also given PG-13 ratings.

The reasons for this rating include the following.

"Intense sequences of violence and action, some sensuality and language."

Thanks to Collider for pointing out this bit of minutia. Though the film may be tweaked and slightly re-edited before its theatrical debut, the rating is very unlikely to change.

The Dark Knight Rises comes to theaters July 20th, 2012 and stars Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

Not surprising but a shame really. A really faithful Batman film should be nothing less than R.

I disagree with that statement entirely. The ultra-violence and other R-rated aspects of certain comic book portrayals represent just one way of portraying a comic book character. Batman has evolved, and is still evolving through many different interpretations of the same character. He's never been a solely R-rated character, like Spawn or The Punisher, so a PG-13 Batman film can technically still be faithful to the source material.

If, on the other hand, you want to debate that a Batman film with a storyline that includes Bane should be rated R, well...that would be much more difficult to argue against. No studio is going to give a 200+ million dollar budget to an R-rated film though, not even for Christopher Nolan.

Well every Batman comic i love is rated R if you're faithful to it, and Joker and Bane characters are such unhinged types of evil that slapping a PG-13 on them is almost disrespecting their potential. I can see how Batman Begins is passable as PG-13 though.

So yeah, we'll get the PG-13 that little tweens can go and spaz out to but I would personally LOVE to see a Hard R-Rated Directors Cut.

Although the movie had some pacing issues, I would say The Dark Knight is pretty close to being perfect. And that was PG-13. A Batman movie doesn't need to be Rated R, and I doubt we'll ever get one.

It was always going to be PG-13, so it can get the maximum amount of people into see it. It'll be a 12A in the UK as where the previous two. The Dark Knight actually received some criticism for being a 12A, the threat of violence particularly the Joker's knives worried some parents and Daily Mail readers. They wanted a 15 certificate slapped on it.

Funny to think that Tim Burton's Batmans got 15 ratings in the UK. Must be down to the violence.

Just listened again to a few of those fake "Recordings" from set....so damn funny. They need to make more, and if anybody hasn't heard them yet I suggest you give them a listen.

Dark Knight was pretty damn amazing, but I still think the better film is Batman Begins. Thought it was alot better than Dark Knight in regards to story and pacing.

Anyone else still think we will see Two Face re-appear again in this film or see another villian in the film that has been rumored (i.e. Hugo Strange)?

The movie will already have Bane, Catwoman, Joker (references), and Ra Al Ghul so maybe we won't see Two Face or another villian that was rumored.

I bet Ras comes back as an orchestrator of everything, potentially even events from TDK.

I'm going to say Ras will be confined to flashbacks. Now his daughter on the other hand...

I don't think Two-Face will ever comeback, he's dead. I don't even think we'll get a flashback of him. This movie will be about Bane dissecting his legacy, so we'll get a few name mentions, but I doubt anything more. However, I do think we'll see Scarecrow again.
