Weren't there rumors that Fiennes is going to be the new M? That the story involves Judie Dench's M and her past and she is forced to resign as M and Fiennes takes over or something?

Or was that debunked as just a rumor?

That's actually kind of a shame because I thought that would have had so much potential. Oh, well. I'm sure what they have cooked up is great too.

While I enjoyed a number of the classic Bonds (Goldeneye was the last one I liked) I felt Casino Royale was by far the best. I was hugely disappointed with Quantum although I wouldnt call it a bad film per se..but so far Skyfall seems to be shaping up to be the movie we all hoped and sort of expected QOS to be. Bardem and Fiennes on board has me giddy and Craig it goes without saying is the personification of gentleman-ly bad ass. Can't wait to see a trailer, anyone have any idea when we will get one?

He's got nothing on Roger Moore in A View to a Kill.

First Images of Javier Bardem!

Quote:
The Daily Mail [via Bleeding Cool] posted these images, identified Bardem’s character as Silva," and promise that despite the police uniform, Bardem is “about to wreak havoc.” As far as I know, Silva is a new character. But my knowledge of the Bond mythology is very limited, so please correct any potential ignorance in the comments.

Is it just me or does Bardem look like Christopher Walken's
Max Zorin character from the Bond film A View to a Kill?

He also reminds me of Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs.

Sorta reminded me of Bruno (Sasha Baron Cohen's character) at first haha.

But seriously this film is gonna kick all kinds of ass especially with Mendes directing.

I've finally decided who I want to take over the role of M in the next film...

Submitted for your approval: Jared Harris

The son of actor Richard Harris (the original Dumbledore in Harry Potter), you may know him from his film roles as Captain Mike in Benjamin Button or Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes: GOS, as well as his TV roles as Lane Pryce on Mad Men and David Robert Jones on Fringe. Recently revisited Jim Jarmusch's Dead Man and was surprised to find him there too, smack dab in the middle between Iggy Pop and Billy Bob Thorton.

Anyway, he is quite the diverse British actor who has a certain presence and sophistication that I think would translate awesomely to the role of "M." I see he and Craig working together very well.

I definitely approve! I love Jared Harris--especially in Mad Men and Sherlock Holmes, so him being in a Bond film is a welcoming addition. That is, only if M dies in Skyfall.

Well, Judi Dench is retiring from acting, so they'll need a new M either way...

Oh wow, I wasn't aware of this, but it seems fitting. I only hope the next person they get strays away from Dench and creates a new character. But most importantly, I hope they don't start going through different M's like they do Bonds.

My reaction upon hearing that Bond will be drinking Heineken in Skyfall:

Not that I'm a PBR fan at all :/

Pendulum - Ransom .... the 1st minute would be an awesome intro song for Skyfall.

I'm so fucking excited for this thing, excuse the language, but it's just that this thing has everything going for it. With Quantum, you had a questionable director, an okay screenwriter, and a plot that had too many ideas mixing. Skyfall seems to be focusing more on story than set pieces and explosions. Plus, you have Fiennes and Bardem, what more could you ask for?

I wish Bond wasn't grabbing the magazine like a fucking Nasty Girl or some other idiot who doesn't know wtf they're doing.

Is it really that expensive to hire a good consultant? I feel like this is a problem that's just never going to be addressed, and it irks the shit out of me.

Well Sam Mendes is probably the best director to ever have made a James Bond movie. Or if he's not the best then he's definitely among the very best.

Doesn't look like a 007 movie. Perhaps if it had the Bond theme it would feel more Bondish?

The teaser is good though. It looks epic in a way most Bond movies don't.

I knew with Mendes at the helm, this film would be all Scenery Porn

Some of my favorite shots from the trailer...
Spoiler:

^^^ My personal favorite

Silva? (Javier Bardem)

My theory on the story (or, atleast part of it)
Spoiler:
Bond has either always known, or finds out, that his parents were killed. Throughout the film, he's lead to believe that Silva was responsible, but it will be revealed that it was Ralph Fienne's character who did it (and maybe even M gave the order ).

Hahah scenery porn is a good sum-up term.

Teaser looks fantastic. As epic and classy as I was hoping a Mendes Bond would be. Also, we did get the ever-so-slightest hint of the Bond theme towards the end with the electronic pulse.
