Atrocity are raping the 80's

Send me an angel Original by Real Life

Here Comes The Rain Again Original by Eurythmics

Smalltown Boys Original by Bronski Beats

People are people Original by Depeche Mode

Shout Original by Tears For Fear

I'm sitting on the fence here ... original were good enough. All songs have better cover but they still have balls to do it metal.

One of the radio stations I used to listen to did an 80's request party every Friday night from 7 to midnight I think. That started my love for the music from the 80's.

I can't believe no one has posted this one yet.

No love for The B-52's?

Love Shack

I'll be back with more later.

This is a great thread.

Love Love Shack from the B-52's. I'm also a big Tears For Fears fan. I love most of their stuff. Some of it doesn't do much for me.
But songs like Pale Shelter, Shout, and Head Over Heels are awesome to me.

I love a lot of the 80's New Wave stuff.

Also one of my favorite Earth Wind and Fire songs came out in 81. "Let's Groove"

Cool thread!

Child of the '80s! Introduced my girlfriend, who is a decade younger than me, to my favourite '80s tunes.

Here's some CanCon to start:

Sherry Kean - I Want You Back

Rock & Hyde - Dirty Water

Will dig through the vault to post some more that haven't been mentioned yet.

Is Devin here?

Billy Idol’s Cradle of Love.

I asked someone if they remembered what song had a hot blonde girl named Devin an no one could remember. It was making me crazy.

One of my friend is on vacation touring Scandinavia and he texted me that Twisted Sister is still pretty big in Norway. I lol'd but one cannot deny the power of "We're not gonna take it "

My vote for the most criminally underrated song of the '80s:

Burning Sensations - "Belly of the Whale" (1983); an intriguing mixture of punk, new wave, and Caribbean:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewDZThYCmRk

Ah, the '80s -- the last decade in which songwriters still actually cared about writing good melodies and not trying to build a new song around other people's songs and there wasn't a single whiny-voiced singer to be found.
