Sharing a tender kiss with a stunning actress 20 years his junior, director Danny Boyle could not look happier.

It is only a week since Mr Boyle’s acclaimed Olympic opening ceremony was watched by a billion across the world – and by 27million viewers in Britain alone.

The Oscar winner, 55, looked relaxed as he strolled hand in hand in the sunshine in Brighton with Rosario Dawson, 33, star of 2005 hit movie Sin City.

The couple met after Mr Boyle hired Miss Dawson to star in his latest film Trance, a crime thriller.

Miss Dawson, who dated Sex and the City actor Jason Lewis for two years before they split in 2006, had a plum spot at the opening ceremony.

The actress – who is of Puerto Rican, Afro-Cuban, Irish and Native American descent – tweeted a picture of herself in the Olympic stadium, writing: ‘What an amazing honor to witness the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics!!’

Last year, she broke up with French DJ Mathieu Schreyer, with a friend saying at the time: ‘They were always in separate places because of their careers.’

Miss Dawson grew up on Manhattan’s tough Lower East Side and her mother Isabel was 17 when she was born. Her father was absent.

Mr Boyle has three children, Gabriel, Caitlin and Grace, by his ex-girlfriend Gail Stevens.

The couple split in 2002 after 20 years together.

The director, whose hit films also include Shallow Grave and Trainspotting, directed the 2008 blockbuster Slumdog Millionaire which won eight Academy Awards.
