I can see how he would be irritated, but I don't think that he's ever said that piracy was the downfall of his movies. I know that he says quite a bit about the FCC and Hatchet II getting shut down (ie: banned) in America, which, yeah, if the movie isn't playing in theaters, it won't make money. Sure, they're not Paranormal Activity-popular, but for indie pictures they're quite popular and do make money.

I really enjoyed the first Hatchet, the characters were fun and it has some of the best kills and gore in recent horror movies. The second Hatchet has too many throw away characters so it's hard to root for any of them and the movie suffers from it. The kills and gore however are excellent again. If they can keep that up I wouldn't mind seeing some more installments.

I'm still not entirely sold on the design of Victor Crowley. It's yet another deformed hillbilly in overalls.

Dark Sky Films has released the official teaser poster for Hatchet III in anticipation of this Saturday's (April 13th) Monsterpalooza panel, where they will be presenting a special panel "THE FX OF THE HATCHET SERIES."

The cast of the threequel will be appearing on stage at 1:00pm. Panelists will include Adam Green, BJ McDonnell, Kane Hodder, Danielle Harris, Derek Mears, Rileah Vanderbilt and also Robert Pendergraft. Fans will get a glimpse of never before seen exclusive footage from the film and immediately following the panel, the cast will be on hand to sign this free limited edition teaser poster.

Hatchet III is set to open in New York City's Cinema Village and in Los Angeles at Laemmle Music Hall on June 14th. Opening week will feature special appearances by cast and crew, followed by Q&A's at each location. Additional cities will be announced at a later date.



Danielle Harris and Kane Hodder return in Hatchet III and are joined by Zach Galligan (Gremlins), Derek Mears (Friday the 13th 2009), Caroline Williams (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Sean Whalen (The People Under the Stairs) and others.

Hatchet III continues the tale of the now-iconic villain Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder). As a search and recovery team heads into the haunted swamp to pick up the pieces and carnage left behind from the first two films, Marybeth (Danielle Harris) hunts down the true secret to ending the voodoo curse that has left the ghost of Victor Crowley haunting and terrorizing Honey Island Swamp for decades.

The sequel, which was filmed outside of New Orleans, Louisiana from late May to mid- June, 2012, is a co-production of MPI/Dark Sky Films and Green's Los Angeles-based ArieScope Pictures.

I enjoyed the first, it had a lot more comedy in it then I expected from the way Green was talking about it, but I could appreciate it on that level after getting over my initial disappointment.
I wasn't looking forward to the sequel from the first trailer I saw, story-wise it seemed ok, but the way it was lit was too bright and Crowley came off looking bad. The movie itself was just kind or boring. The FX were fine, but the cast from the original were much better then what we got in part 2.
Just very blah.
At least the trailer for 3 is visually appealing. I hope it's more along the lines of the original.
