I don't think she was raped, but almost raped by this serial rapist. She then helped put the bastard away.

But it doesn't say anything about how she escaped, it doesn't really imply that she wasn't sexually assaulted, just that she survived the incident.

Scary stuff that happens to more people than it should. The attacker being a police officer surprised me.

Releasing this information was Carpenter's choice, right? It's not the doing of the showrunner or producers or..? I only ask because she's making no comments in tandem with these articles. She probably has full knowledge and awareness of it, and she's probably proud of what she did, but I have a peanut gallery inside my head and it's curious. I'm nuts. Ehhh.

I read the now 20 year old People magazine article detailing the events. Wow. The fact she's come out to be still alive, functional and successful is a miracle in of itself.
