Prometheus (10/09) Full Press Release

Launching into space to discover the mysterious creators of the human race, the “genuinely epic” (Tom Long, Detroit News) film, PROMETHEUS, debuts globally on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD October 9 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. An unmatched home entertainment experience, watch the highly-anticipated blockbuster hit in the format it was meant to be viewed, stunning 3D high-definition.

Lead by mission director Meredith Vickers (Theron) and monitored by Weyland’s android David (Fassbender), the team of explorers find a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth and embark on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe where they fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Very upset that none of the 35 minutes of deleted/alternate scenes aren't making into a director's cut (yet anyway). Ridley is practically king of the director's cuts. Damn.

a note about THE DATE

People are so caught up in the fact that the film will release on a Thursday are not focused on the other part of the release.. The date.

The Date of release is 10/11/2012 or October 11 2012. If you want to think of it in a funny light then here: [7 8 9] 10 11 12. The date was chosen because of the uniqueness and not the day of the week that it just so happpens to fall on. If u remenber, The Remake of the Omen was released in theaters on June 6th, 2006 or 6.6.6.

I dont know how I feel;l about these new covers. I think I like the original covers better. Maybe the 4 DIsc set cover I like more... we'll see!

I like the idea of being able to watch the movie as soon as I pre-order it, that is a good idea.

The directors cut is being released on October 11. It is running 2 hours 39 minutes. Not sure if it is just in the 4 disc set or not though.

(update) more info about the "orrey" 4-disc cover..

Folks, I’ve been quite confused over the past couple of weeks! I’ve seen several candidates for the covert art of the Prometheus 3D home release and well I’m just more confused now because ANOTHER cover has been thrown into the the ring! This one was posted on Canada’s Future Shop! I like it! Do you?

So, this is the Canadian Collector’s Edition cover. So far the situation with the covers is:

Shaw/David/Vickers - Hungarian/US DVD and US regular Blu-ray
Engineer - US Collector’s Edition 4-disc set and Hungarian regular Blu-ray
Orrery (the one above) - Canadian Collector’s Edition

Info subject to change as we get closer to 10.11.12.
http://weylandinvestors.com/post/309...-confused-over

in short, Hungarian DVD cover is standard US BD/DVD/Digital release, Engineer BD art is US Collector's edition. May differ in other countries. http://www.prometheusforum.net/discu...Comment_105598

You saw it. Fox Home Entertainment will be making an HD version of Prometheus available in only in the US on September 18 through their new DigitalHD service, powered by Best Buy’s US-only CinemaNow.
Unfortunately there aren’t any more details at the moment whether the film will be available in 720p or 1080p, with special features or without, stream-only or not, or whether the same thing will happen internationally, but we will keep you updated as new info comes in.

First Official announcment!!

One of the most anticipated films of the year is coming to Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D in October.

As previously reported, 20th Century Fox's 'Prometheus' was up for pre-order at Amazon on Blu-ray as well as Blu-ray 3D a while ago, now the official date has been set for October 11. In the Ridley Scott film, a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Specs and supplements have not been set yet, but suggested list price for the Blu-ray is set at $39.99 and the Blu-ray 3D is $49.99.

You can find the latest specs for 'Prometheus' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under October 11.

As more and more American countries are seen getting the orrery cover art for the BD3D collector’s edition, and the iTunes edition using the Engineer cover, the situation has changed…

Shaw/David/Vickers - Hungarian/US DVD and European Blu-ray

Engineer - European Collector’s Edition 4-disc set and Hungarian and US regular Blu-ray

Orrery - Canadian and the US Collector’s Edition

Hope that’s more cleared up.

That's what I'm on the fence about as well. If we're going to have to wait forever for it, a la "Kill Bill" -- The Whole Bloody Affair, then forget it.

Sorry but adding a DVD and digital copy to the blu ray release so they can jack up the price to $40 is a fucking ripoff.

If I have a blu-ray player, why the fuck do I need the DVD! Consumers aren't idiots, we know this drives up overhead, and it's totally superfluous.

It wouldnt be so bad except I never see plain ol' blu ray or dvd releases anymore. They all have to be this combo crap.

Yep, and why the hell is the DVD version marked at $19.99 retail price. That was the standard for DVDs over 10 years ago before there was a superior product available. I feel like BluRays have actually gotten more expensive over the last few years, and it's mostly due to this combo crap.

I agree to an extent... because before I got a Blu Ray player, I would buy these combo packs because of the DVD, this way I had the Blu Ray for when I got my player, and I had the DVD so I could watch it as soon as I bought it.

Now, I bought my Blu Ray player fairly quick upon its release (of course I waited for the wars between HDDVD and Blu to end!) but I do know a ton of people who still only have DVD players.

But you can also be a hero to a lady or friend in your life by giving them the DVD copy of the movie you buy!

I dont usually used bad language, BUT

THIS IS FUK3D UP!! I just found this on the Prometheus' Facebook page! it was dated for YESTERDAY!!

Today is the day! Prometheus has landed in homes via Digital HD. http://www.foxdigitalhd.com/

Find the film on iTunes, Amazon.com, VUDU, Xbox, PlayStation, and CinemaNow. You can also get the Digital HD as part of the Blu-ray Combo Pack in stores at Walmart or Best Buy today, watch the film tonight, and receive your Blu-ray disc on 10.11.

PROMETHEUS: CINEMA NOW 9/23

Quote:

For the first time ever, Best Buy is offering early access to the digital version of a movie before the movie’s physical release date. Beginning Sept. 23, customers who pre-order “Prometheus” on Blu-ray or 3D Blu-ray will receive instant access to the digital version of the movie via CinemaNow – approximately two-weeks prior to the movie’s street date for physical disc on Oct. 9. Anderson will set the preorder cards on Sept. 23 on either a shipper or the new release fixture in your store.
The “Prometheus” pre-order process is similar to a standard movie pre-order with a few exceptions:
• Customer pays $14.99 for digital content + preorder (instead of the typical $5 pre-order fee).
• Customer receives $14.99 credit towards the 3D or Blu-ray combo physical format after the movie releases in-store.
• Customer immediately receives a HD version of the movie through CinemaNow– prior to the physical disc release date via a code that will print on the customer’s receipt and will be emailed to the customer.
• $14.99 deposit is not returnable at any time as this represents the value of the digital copy of the movie. The $14.99 deposit should only be returned when the customer picks up the physical copy of the movie.

Fan edit of Prometheus might give valid clues to date....

The website 'Wylandinvestors' is putting together their own fan edit of Prometheus...

Fanedit Title: Prometheus - Weyland Investors Extended Cut
Filename: TBC
Directed by: Ridley Scott
Original runtime: 02:04:03
Fanedit runtime:02:16:15 (Workprint 1)
Format/resolution: 1280x532 (720p) x264 .mkv/AAC 2ch 320kbps

Just finished putting together a rough Workprint 1, running at 2:16:15 including credits, might render out a couple of short clips in HD, such as my replacement of the captions for the Isle of Skye scene and the ship’s introduction, both of which which were missing in the iTunes release, and my re-cut of the Shaw corridor scene to fit in the alt. Fifield fight when the BD comes out.

The full finished cut should be ready by 10.11.12. if we are lucky…

http://weylandinvestors.com/post/318...s-extended-cut

Wylandinvestors and Prometheus's facebook page still list the bluray and dvd date as 11/10. Blu-ray.com change the Bluray date to 10/9 BUT left the 3D version as "10/11". BestBuy's website has changed the date to '10/9' however there are some BestBuys that are currently displaying Huge preoder endcaps that display "10/11/12" them. I believe the preorder cards even have the "10/11" date on them for SUNDAY. Fox even said that the date of 10/9 is correct but they have not given a statment on why the sudden change of date.

Here is what bothers me:

What's gonna happen to all the display that stores already are displaying for the film that curently show the '10.11.12' date on them.
Not to mention the websites that are listing and or advertising '10.11.12'?

.... that's a terrible deal... whoever won spent 10 bucks on the 2D disc only out of the 3D combo pack, no packaging, nothing, just the disc. I hope whoever won the bid knows what they bought, if not, then they deserve what they get for being an idiot!

Finally! Offical Special Features for PROMETHEUS!!!

The October 9, 2012 Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD release date for Ridley Scott's
Prometheus has been known for some time. As the release date has approached, we have been
kept in the dark as to what exactly would fall onto each home video release. Now we know, and
the answer heavily favors purchasing the Blu-ray 3D edition.
