This may be a stupid question, but does this focus solely on Lincoln's plight through this time period or will it also show other events that went on in the war that didn't involve Lincoln?

Dammit, Steven. Why must you make such a movie that will most likely sweep the Oscars when both Anderson and Tarantino are releasing movies this year?

I'm thinking it'll focus on those last four months. Probably tell some sort of back story but mostly the last four

I wonder if they'll edit out the theatre shooting scene.

As great as DDL looks as Honest Abe...I'm really excited to hear what kind of voice he's created.

Yes. Usually, we get a trailer very soon after the poster is released. At least that seems to be the way it's been going lately. So I hope this means we FINALLY get a trailer within the next week or so!

That is some really impressive makeup work. I think the film has already solidified a makeup Oscar nomination at the very least. Whether the performance is as incredible as the makeup remains to be seen, but given that we're talking about Daniel Day-Lewis here, I'm pretty confident he's gonna do a remarkable job.

Looks like the trailer will debut on September 13, as will a Google Hangout chat with the 'Berg and JGL. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=94361

Looks pretty mediocre to me. Day-Lewis looks good, but not Joaquin Phoenix in The Master good.

I think it looks great, seems like a very powerful performance by Daniel Day Lewis. And I really like Anthony Mackie, excited to see what he does in this.

DDL looks like he lost himself in a role completely again. Not to mention the film looks absolutely gorgeous.

Looks like typical Spielberg swath, drenched in the tears of war veterans and God fearing patriots. I'll still see it for that RIDICULOUS cast alone, and of course the main man himself, DDL. I don't trust trailers to give me any indication of an actor's full presence, and knowing DDL, he'll knock this out of the park and give Phoenix a good scare.

If there ever there was only one film that was ever labeled 'Oscar bait' this would be it. Feels a bit too preachy. I think star power overwhelms the atmosphere sometimes and it could very well be the case here.

Can't wait. I'm definitely keeping my expectations in check, but the talent involved with this project (both in front and behind the camera) as well as the level of meticulousness it took to get this thing made certainly makes everything more than promising. I'll admit that I was expecting more from the trailer and that the footage shown, while beautiful, didn't really stir me up in any way - but I'm definitely optimistic that this will live up to its potential.

Kind of funny to see my three sentiments all expressed (I thought I would be the lone discontent) but from three different people. Mix together these three judgements and there ya go on my end.

Although I may go farther. I mean it looked flat out bad.

Aside from too many fades to black, I really like what I see. DDL looks great as ever, and the rest of the older cast members (Field, Jones, Straithairn, and Hollbrook) look great as well. I would have liked to see more of JGL, but what's shown looks great.

My only question is this: was that Jackie Earle Haley around the 0:45 mark or am I seeing things?

He's listed in the cast list on IMDB as playing Alexander Stephens:
