NO APOLOGY: THE CASE FOR AMERICAN GREATNESS

Mitt Romney was the governor of Massachusetts. His father, George Romney, was the governor of Michigan. Mitt worked in the private sector and made his fortune at Bain Capital, an equity firm.

Mitt got the 2012 Republican nomination, and I will vote for him. If he is elected and runs again in 2016, I will vote for him a second time.

Mitt Romney's premise is that the United States must remain a superpower for its own good and for the good of the rest of the world. He puts forth strategies for maintaining global power. He sees jihadists as threats.

Mitt Romney touts freedom, freedom from religion on one hand and freedom to express religious views on the other. I question his desire to "free" Afghanistan, however, at the cost of the lives of our young men. Afghanistan is a hell-hole, free or otherwise. The original idea was to get Bin Laden dead or alive, and that has been done.

Romney's harshest criticism is aimed at the Obama administration for breaking with six decades of American leadership in the world. He laments Obama's apologies for American greatness when that greatness has been a source of global stability. Like Ronald Reagan, Romney sees America as the hope of mankind.

What I like about Romney is that he is a businessman. He believes in a strong economy. He boasts of America's GDP.

Romney believes that a strong economy is essential to security, that it is the foundation of defense and prosperity. He writes about how Japanese automakers outstripped American competitors in the 1970s, then built plants in the U.S. to create jobs for Americans.

Romney looks at why nations decline. He concludes that they lose their lead because they consume wealth as opposed to creating it. They close their minds to innovation and technology in favor of isolationism. Romney stresses the importance of vision. He sees America as having the qualities needed to meet current challenges. America is blessed with an abundance of natural resources, and its economy reflects a range of industries.

Finally, Romney believes in nuclear energy. He sees it as an alternative to foreign oil and cannot understand why environmental groups oppose it. Nuclear energy is used to produce electricity, and the U.S. has 65 nuclear power plants.

I still feel he is for the rich and l feel the Oamam would make a better president and he would be more for the ordinary person

I feel that sometimes people who have too much money have no idea how to come across to lower class people

As opposed to Obama not being for the rich? Bondgirl you always say this about Romney but not about Obama. Why? Obama bailed out the auto industry, banks, GM, Wall St, and on and on and on... just like every other president going back decades. Do they sound poor to you? Lets not pretend Obama was born in the slums or anything.

You'd vote for him a second time regardless of how his first four years go, assuming he gets elected? Why would you do that?

How did Obama break from six decades of leadership in the world? I've never heard Obama apologize for American greatness, ever.

He can't understand why environmental groups oppose nuclear power? Maybe he forgot already about what happened in Japan, or he doesn't know were spent fuel rods get stored. They don't get launched into outer space, Romney.

Its just a shame I was agreeing with all the angry liberals at Bush when he was in office but now it seems the 'question authority' liberals are nowhere to be found now that a guy with a 'D' next to his name is in the White House. Just like I was ticked off at some so called 'conservatives' for sitting back and not caring what Bush was doing.

"Extension of Federal powers are only bad when the other guy does it!" You may love all that power now but you can't always guarantee it's going to be like-minded people controlling the levers of government. It's like how my left-wing friends suddenly discovered the concepts of federalism when they didn't want Bush making "wrong" decisions for the entire country.

That is the prime, number one reason why government power MUST be limited and why the Founding Fathers specifically listed a LIMITED set of enumerated powers instead of a broad declaration of do whatever you feel like as long as you have the votes. We are not supposed to be a democracy. We are supposed to be a constitutional republic.

The government isn't supposed to be too powerful or swift change. It's intentionally relatively weak compared to other governments around the world and intentionally slow to change. It's supposed to be a relatively consistent bedrock that allows the times change around it while people know they can expect relative consistency under the law. That's done in order to prevent tyranny of the majority. If government were supposed to operate swiftly, why bother having a constitution? Why not just let our representatives vote and whatever they say goes (just like you're arguing under the "general welfare" clause) that way government can swiftly change with the times?

And yes, the Constitution CAN change. It's called the amendment process and it exists for precisely that reason. And it's intentionally difficult for precisely the reasons I outlined above. It's not convenient. But that's the whole point.
