So long, scrambling for the remote when COMMERCIALS START!!!!

The FCC has barred excessively loud commercials.

http://www.cnn.com/2012/12/13/showbi...html?hpt=hp_c2

While I know there has been dispute over whether commercials are actually louder, I've always found the defense toward commercials to be utterly ridiculous.

The "defense" being that the commercials aren't really louder, they just have more loud parts. So in other words, what they've historically said is that, if an explosion during an action show tops out at 10, an entire commercial is just at 10. So it's not really louder. Bullshit. If my drunk uncle says everything loudly, and my grammammy only gets that loud when she's yelling at us for tracking snow in from the outside - you can't say that they are both as equally as loud, and the uncle only seems louder because he's always at that volume. But yet this is the defense commercials, usually via lighter-side news reports, have always spewed.

So I say -- good. Without getting too much into the details, I imagine ad execs are already finding a work around.

I read about this today. Outstanding news!

But like you mentioned, I'm sure advertisers will find some other loophole to annoy us with.

There's probably a loophole in the law that allows advertisers to, when the commercial starts, run into your house and kick you in the crotch.

Yeah, they'll lower the volume on the commercials so you have to turn them up just in case you want to hear what the hell they're saying and BOOM...here comes Flo and a loud ass Progressive Insurance commercial.

Too MANY commercials as far as I'm concerned. The programming is dwarfed by them. They're on YouTube for frick's sake and in before movies at the friggin theaters!

This is one of those moments that when I'm 80, I'll be telling my grandkids about.

"Back in my day..."

And you're grandkids will be thinking, "No wonder he talks so loud!"

I have to agree that ads on tv are a pain and loud on some and they can last a while just enough time for a toilet break and to make a coffee and it is A pian when you get to a exciting part of a movie oh and of cause you have to flick the ad off YouTube so you can watch a film
