This Is Spinal Tap (7/10)

This is Spinal Tap- (7/10)
Info: (1984) R, Michael McKean, Chistopher Guest
Runtime: 1 hour 22 mins
Genre: Comedy
Tagline:” Does for rock and roll what "The Sound of Music" did for hills”
Comments: A very funny “rockumentary” on a plummeting fictional band called “Spinal Tap”, known as the loudest band in Britain. A camera crew follows the band around as they go on their first American tour in seven years. Some parts are absolutely hysterical and some…well, not so hysterical. The personal interviews the band gives to the director of this rockumentary, Marty DiBergi (Rob Reiner) are extremely funny. The members are so incredibly dumb it’s hilarious. They’re like male bimbos- or as “Seinfeld” calls them- mimbos. This once extremely popular band has now been grouped into the category of “Where are they now?” They hope this American tour and the release of a new album entitled “Lick The Glove” will hopefully boost their popularity again. But their bad luck with keeping tour venues booked and a problem to keep their drummers alive (one chocked on someone else’s vomit, and another spontaneously combusted) only makes the problems grow bigger for the band. Though not constantly funny, this is a great and extremely funny spoof on 80’s hair bands.
Dialogue- 7.5/10 (Most of the dialogue was improvised, so it makes it all the more funny. Also, the lyrics to some of “Spinal Tap’s” songs are hilarious)
Violence/Gore- 0/10 (Nothing at all)
T&A- 1/10 (Some girls wear very skimpy clothes)
Date viewed: 4/10/03

One of the funniest movies I have ever seen. The dialouge, writing, everything! It all clicks in.

A wonderful comedy.

8/10 or A

this one goes up to 11/10

Did you know black sabbath really did built, for a early 80s tour, a scale model of stonehenge that fitted perfectly into the venue (the birmingham NEC) they were rehearsing in pre tour.

Except no one remembered the NEC was a lot bigger than some of the venues they were actually playing on the tour......
