Denise Richards and Richie Sambora have been getting cozy: The pair were spotted kissing in Southern California this weekend, PEOPLE reports.

Heather & Richie: A Surprise Ending
On Saturday, Richards, 35, and Sambora, 46, the soon-to-be ex-husband of Heather Locklear, arrived at Le Café in the Westlake Village neighborhood outside Los Angeles at about 5 p.m. in separate cars. In the parking lot, the two kissed then walked hand-in-hand, smiling and chatting the entire way as they headed for the restaurant.

Inside, they shared a table in the covered patio where they gazed into each other's eyes and held hands across the table. Eventually, Richards planted a kiss on Sambora's hand – and he returned the gesture, kissing hers. They then kissed again on the lips.

They left the restaurant at 5:45 p.m. in the same car together. Sambora has a home in Westlake Village.

On Friday, Richards filed a 17-page court document claiming that her estranged husband, Charlie Sheen, had threatened to kill her. The actress also claims that during their marriage, Sheen abused prescription medication, had violent mood swings, was a compulsive gambler and visited pornography Web sites featuring "very young girls." Sheen has called Richards' claims "vile" and "baseless."

Richards originally filed for divorce in March of last year, when she was six months pregnant with the couple's daughter Lola. The pair appeared to briefly reconcile after Lola's birth in June, but on Jan. 4, they requested that their divorce proceed with a private arbitrator.

In February, Sambora – who's the guitarist for Bon Jovi – split from Locklear, his wife of 11 years. The couple have an 8-year-old daughter, Ava.

Richards and Locklear are pals who grew even closer during Richards's split from Sheen. Locklear, who starred with Sheen in Spin City, attended Richards's baby shower before she gave birth to her daughter Lola – and helped take care of the baby after she was born.

Richards's rep could not be reached for comment.

Heather Locklear Discovered 'Provocative' E-Mail

Heather Locklear and Richie Sambora were working through a rough patch in their marriage, due mostly to the strife of two busy careers. Then, sources say, a suggestive e-mail sent to Sambora by an acquaintance of the couple became a final straw in Locklear's decision to seek a divorce, PEOPLE reports in its upcoming issue.

Locklear found the e-mail, which contained "provocative pictures" of the female, a close friend of the pair tells PEOPLE. Though the woman had long been "a sore subject," says the source, Locklear never thought she and Sambora had actually been "romantic."

Whatever conclusions Locklear has now drawn from the photos, they were, her friend believes, the deciding factor. "She's devastated," says the friend. "Absolutely devastated."

Sambora, meanwhile, is as upset by the photos as Locklear, according to their friend: "Richie's saying nothing ever happened, that he never asked for the pictures."

Another source close to the Bon Jovi guitar player says the photos are neither the cause of the breakup nor indicative of a liaison between Sambora and the woman. "It's absolutely not true that they had an affair," says the friend.

Many observers believed the bond between Sambora, 46, and Locklear, 44, was strong. "I thought they were the perfect couple," says their longtime friend, music journalist Lonn Friend, who insists Sambora was not your typical rocker. "He'd sown some wild oats in his day" but since hooking up with Locklear, Friend says, he'd become "a family man." The couple have one daughter, Ava, 8.

Lynn, I never insulted you. Let's not make such assumptions when that clearly isn't the case. If my message had something in question, I assure you it was not intentional. Your source, on the other hand, leaves me cold. So far everything in this article is speculation and nothing more. Example:

I hate PEOPLE magazine. It has reduced itself to being just another supermarket tabloid. Also, "sources say" is just another way of saying "this article is sensationalist crap." And this is one of many publications that produces such tripe instead of facts. It just seems like the press could try to be matter of fact in their reporting for a change instead of tossing out gossip.

I like People magazine. I have subscribed to it for years and they seem to be pretty resposnible. I can't think of anything they have been wrong about. Isn't their parent company Time magazine? Maybe I'm wrong. Even when actors give interviews sometimes they say they are misquoted so I suppose that anything in print could be wrong.

The fact remains that Locklear left Sambora and he didn't have a clue what had happened. He was touring when it came out in the press and he gave an interview saying the marriage was fine. Something happened between the time he left to tour and the time she ended the marriage. A nasty email from another woman sounds like a plausible reason. Of course it could always be something else.

Now Entertainment Tonight is reporting that Richards and Sambora I guess were having an affair and they said that someone interviewed David Spade (who has been seeing Heather) about the situation last night at some awards show and he said Heather was at home nursing the knife wounds in her back. I guess that kind of verifies the fact that Richards betrayed her friend.

I wanted to add that I have now seen other reports that they have been seeing each other since March, after the split. I guess only Heather knows if it was Denise who was sending the suggestive emails or not. I'm sure she still feels betrayed to have her friend move in on her ex so fast. One thing I had forgotten was that Locklear and Sheen had starred together in that comedy show Spin City for about 3 years. And the two couples hung out a lot since they were neighbors too. Icky.

I kind of think Locklear is going to come out on top in all of this. Richards isn't really a huge force in show biz- I only really became aware of her cause she married Charlie Sheen; and the only reason I ever heard about Sambora was because he was married to Locklear. Other than that the only guy I knew in that group was Jon Bon Jovi. The others were just back up.

One more comment and then I'll stop. If it is true that he was cheating, why would a guy want to blow the chance to raise his own daugher ,in order to be around the other woman's two daughters? It doesn't sound like he had a terrible marriage to Locklear.
