STANLEY WHITE kicks ass like no other!

I just watched YEAR OF THE DRAGON for a 2nd time, after a 10 year break.

Excellent film. That annoying sentimental acoustic guitar tune unfortunately cuts down the effect of several otherwise great drama scenes and the chinese love interest chick gives an uneven performance. Good chemistry with the hero, thought... But despite those nitpicks, this flick rocks. Great script and great acting all around, backed up by solid direction.

And man... STANLEY FUCKING WHITE!

As far anti-heroes go, he's one of the greatest of all time. What a fucking awesome character. As far as underdog cops fighting agains tthe corrupt system go, he's the best. Dirty Harry who? Stanley White can kick his ass all over the place. Great hat, too. I love that hat.

Of course it's not only a brillantly written character, but THE MAN, the one and only Mickey Rourke rules so much in this movie. Sure, he's riding the high wave these days again and ruled as Marv in Sin City, but still... It's kind of sad thing that this powerhouse of raw talent and charisma never realized his full potential and fell off the map for such a long time. He's still a great actor, but he had chance to become one of the all time legends. And he missed that out.

And damn was he a beautiful man back then or what? You know, before his face was destroyed by his boxing career and extensive plastic surgery.

If I would have to fuck with a man, I would fuck with Mickey Rourke circa 1985.

Excellent flick. 8/10. And this movie has one of my favourite characters and performances of all time. Stanley White fucking rules.
