Serenity Day - 23rd June

Good evening everybody. I'm here to bring to your attention an issue that you probably aren't aware of. This Friday, June 23rd 2006, is Serenity Day.

Whats that I hear you all cry? Leave you alone, you're busy?

Well just give me a chance kiddies. This takes a little bit of back story. Back in 2002 TV-producing genius Joss Whedon, the man who wrote Toy Story and created Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, created TV gold for a third time with a new show called Firefly. Now the shortened version is; Firefly got screwed by the Fox network and was taken off air after only half a season. They did this despite the fact that everyone who saw the show loved it.
This good word of mouth meant that when the 14 episodes were released on DVD they sold so well that it gave Whedon the leverage to spin off Firefly into a movie, Serenity, which was released last year. Unfortunately a movie based on a failed TV show that hardly anyone saw is something of a hard sell, and Serenity didn't exactly set the box office alight, a fact that leaves the future of this property hanging in the balance.

The point of Serenity Day is to get as many people as possible to buy either Firefly or Serenity (or both) on June 23rd, to show the producers that there are enough people out there interested in this property to warrent them making another film, or another season of TV. The point of this post is to convince YOU.

Maybe you're thinking, "Yeah, i was considering getting Firefly/Serenity at some point". Well now you know when to do it.

Maybe you're thinking "I don't know about Firefly/Serenity but I liked Buffy/Angel/Toy Story (delete as applicable)". Well in that case you should know to trust Joss Whedon. Go. Buy.

Maybe you're thinking "I hate Buffy/Angel/Toy Story (delete as applicable). Why the hell would I like this shit?". Well you're an idiot. Get the hell out of my office!

Maybe you're thinking "I've never heard of this Firefly/Serenity thing but I've read this far so I might as well fucking finish it now". Well let me try and seduce you further. Its a western, but it's set 500 years in the future, so it's covering lots of bases. It's a show of such high quality that I would reccommend it to anyone, of any age, any gender, any sexual orientation, any nationality, any height and any religion, even fake religions like scientology, jedi and christianity.

For the ladies out there thinking this isn't their bag, I want you to know about the handsome chaps featured in the show. Like these:

Still not interested? Fine. But you must know someone who you think might be. Tell them about this. Or better still, buy it for them on the 23rd. Keep hold of it until their birthday or christmas. They're both pretty cheap everywhere.


Now, the most effective way of spreading the word on this probably isn't to post on a forum with just 3 days to go, but I only just thought of that and I've already typed this shit out, so you guys can all go away and tell your friends and people at work and grandparents and stuff and spread the word so............what the hell are you still doing reading this crap??!! GO TELL EVERYONE NOW!! And don't forget, June 23rd!!!!
