Hostel 2

Sorry if it's a little early to be starting this thread, but given that the screenplay is apparently finished I figured it might be time.

Regarding the film's setting, I caught this at rottentomatoes.com:

Scott Weinberg writes: "We knew it was being fast-tracked, and now it looks like Eli Roth is all finished with his screenplay for "Hostel 2." The sequel will go into production this September, and the young horror freak will be shooting in Prague, the Czech Republic, and maybe Slovakia -- even though that country is still a little steamed over the first "Hostel."

Wtf? I could have sworn the sequel was set in Italy.

What? What gave you that impression? According to Mr. Roth's blogs, it takes place in the same part it did last time, the Czech Republic.

From movieweb.com:

"I'm writing Hostel 2 for girls - it's going to be three girls this time," he revealed. "They're studying in Italy for the summer, and they get lured, and they go back to ... well, we're going to go back to a lot of familiar places."

Through the existence of this Italian hostel, Roth plans to reveal that the Slovakian stopover from the first flick is actually part of a chain - kinda like a Motel 6, but with decapitations instead of a continental breakfast.

I real hoping Roth sticks with the Italian setting. It would make for such a different film . . . . . . the contrast of the torture dungeons against the beautiful italian countryside would really be cool.

If I'm not correct, the Jay Hernandez character ends up in Italy by way of the train . . . . I think I read that somewhere as well but I can't find the link.

See and they go back to where the original is set. It'll be set in Italy for probably 20 minutes if that.

Slovakia is a nice looking country too. I wish Roth would use something like Albania for depressingly looking country in the Central Europe (or Russian countryside where such a business is even more believable).

I hope "it's for the girls this time" does not mean we will face the male nudity only?!

Roth said its going to be dark from the start so i doudt there will be any nudity in this one and besides a penis is the last thing you will ever see in an Eli Roth film.

I might see this as it is girls instead of guys but I have to say that I was totally unimpressed with the first. It wasn't nearly as raunchy or gory as I thought it would be.

*applauds and hands Elder a drink*

I wasn't so impressed with the first one either...all I heard was 'OMG, it's like sooooo gory!'...then I actually WATCHED it.

<minor spoiler...maybe?>

Also, I'm still not sure how I feel about the switching of the main character halfway through the film...I think I may have liked it, but the jury's still out on that one.

<end minor spoiler>

Also, it would make sense if Hernandez's character made an appearance if it starts in Italy...after all, that's where he and the buds were headed at the start of the first film.

I really hope they can do a better job with making me care about the characters in this film...I really just wanted them all to die in the last one...I swear, if Oli said 'Of course, my horse' one more fucking time, I was going to leap through the television screen and injure him myself! DAMN the plotline!

There really is no need for a Hostel 2, but I'll give it a shot anyway. The last one was pretty ridiculously hyped and didn't deliver the goods for me. I was kind've left with an 'Oh that's all' attitude from it.

Roth should some how spice it up. I don't want to sit through Hostel 2 thinking 'This is just like Hostel, but with girls'.

The first one just promised so much and delivered very little. I truthfully cannot stand all the stoner shit that they went through in the first 3/4 of the film. That drives me fucking crazy.

I agree with darchangel that by the end, I wanted those guys to die so they'd stop being so annoying.

The reason Eli failed with the movie is because he failed to create characters that you felt sorry for. That is the true nature of horror which is watching horrible things happen to good people.

As well, the gore wasn't that bad at all. I was expecting much worse and I hope Eli can do better with the sequel.

i agree with that this movie should not be a more of the same, i would however like to see a film where we follow one of the guys going about getting into the Bloodhound circle, becoming a member, maybe follow the Rick Hoffman character (the dude that tortures the chinese girl), and see what makes him tick up til the moment where he decides to pay to kill someone. It would make for an interesting thriller, but now I feel with it just being three girls going on a vacation, eli's going to focus on how to kill the characters, put more gore, because it is all set up from the first one, now the audience expectation is kill people... we need another one of those movies like we need another Pokemon movie... give me an arresting character driven piece and you'll have my full support

Sounds good to me, but i hope Eli Roth does pull a cabin fever and makes this movie a suck-a-thon.

There better be a senseless amount of titties, gore and torture, or its not HOSTEL!

I absolutely hated the first. It was nothing but a soft core porn movie, with a bit of gore thrown in. If I wanted that I'd have watched some of my friend's anime porn! It was filled with obnoxious, homophobic, unlikeable characters. I'm not looking forward to the sequel at all.

You took the words out of my mind....

I saw the "unrated, sicker , badder...etc" version a week ago...
What a piece of shit...for people who are afraid to by porn, the FHM of horror movies....very fake gore, if any, no story, extremly fake acting...just like cabin fever...

Of all new horror/remakes of the last couple of years, Eli Roth deserves a warm place next to Paul"i will fuck your concept"anderson.

All talk and now show...
