New Day of the Dead Remake to Star Ving Rhames

Ving Rhames has been cast in the film, specifically to link the film to Universal's DAWN OF THE DEAD remake. In addition, Mira Sorvino (MIMIC) will be joining him. The film will be shooting in or around Bulgaria or Romania this month. (Bloody-Disgusting.com)

I wonder if this is going to be a remake at all... Are they going to end up in an underground bunker?

Correction to the casting of Mira Sorvino, its actually Mena Suvari (American Pie,American Beauty). Whoever got the scoop got the names screwed up supposedly. I used to have a crush on Mena as a younger kid, so this is alright casting. Atleast they're not ignoring Dawn already and got Ving in it.He was solid in Dawn.

Wasn't very impressed with the "Dawn" remake, not giving this one any high hopes. The one good thing about dawn was that on the 'making of' on the dvd the whole soundtrack is "The F*cking Champs" and that in itself almost redeems it.

The newest Fangoria is showing that while Ving Rhames is in Day, he is NOT playing his character from Dawn. He is playing the Captain character from Day of the Dead.

To each his own but I have seen far worse on trailers.

When the zombies jump out of the windows, that doesnt bother me. I just hope the acting is good and they dont hold back on the blood and gore.

I haven't decided what I think of this yet...I really enjoyed the Dawn of the Dead remake, but wasn't a big fan of Land of the Dead...I guess I need to see and hear some more about Day before I decided...but I'll prolly be there opening weekend regaurdless...

The Dawn remake didnt blow ass because Zack Snyder is an ok director, Steve Miner hasnt given us anything good in a long time and the writer cant write for shit (unless you liked final destination....)

But I agree. Ving should play his character from Dawn or not be in it at all. Especially after he was so cool in Dawn, I don't want to see him be some crazed army captain stereotype. Any word on who is playing the "mad scientist"? God Day of the Dead horrible. I don't see how this one can be worse.

Trailer looks like utter STV crap that I wouldnt bother to watch once Cinemax picked it up for their rotation. It is just awful and I am upset that this is the best they could do. I might be wrong once it is released and all but the trailer just ruined any hopes I had for this movie. And I loved the Dawn remake so dont try and bash me as someone who hates remakes.

I think I'll actually wait till I see it before I decide that. On a negative note I do think this trailer is absolutely awful. It looks fan made and it looks like its made for cable or something. I'm also not too thrilled that Ving Rhames is in it again and playing a different character no less. Like I said though I will wait to see it and not let any prejudices get in the way with this particular remake. I don't know why. I usually hate remakes being uttered.
