Another "What's that movie?" Thread.

I remember watching this movie about 4 or 5 years ago on television...and would really appreciate figuring out what it was. Here are the clues:

1. I remember that it was somewhat of a comedy
2. The stars were an overweight teen and his friend
3. I think that they get thrown in a dumpster by bullies or something.
4. I'm pretty sure the title of the movie was the main kid's name
5. I remember him wearing a purple tuxedo to the school dance at the end.
6. I think the kid's grandfather was of some significance in the story.
7. I'm pretty sure this was either an 80's or 90's movie.
