Schmoe lyrics...whatcha think?
Hey. I'm really nervous about this, so be nice, but be honest. I've been writing lyrics, lately, and I was wondering if any of you can give me an opinion on a couple of these.
This first song is meant to be sung in kind of a light falsetto (Thom Yorke style). It's probably best suited for the piano. "Former" Mister Opportunity's knocking But I don't wanna open the door Tell him just to keep on walking This boy ain't gonna dance, anymore I haven't since the day you decided To give up on us and disappear But no matter how much I try to hide it There's really only one thing that's clear CHORUS: I wanna dance, I wanna dance, love, love, love I wanna dance, I wanna dance, love, love I wanna dance, I wanna dance, love Oh, former, when are you gonna quit Reminding me of transgressions past? I'm sorry everything went to shit In this sadness, how long can I last? Everytime you walk down the street Reminds me of the day we broke up And I just stare down at my feet I know I never deserved your love CHORUS The lyrics of this one are a bit more cryptic, but basically it's about a guy getting a ride home with a girl that he loves and he's jealous of her boyfriend. All he can think about is how much he loves listening to her sing along to the radio, regardless of her lack of vocal talent. This one's more suited to a soft, acoustic style. "Keep Singing" There's a spectre in the air Your rubber marks the roads Much better than the fair Is at halting our growth Screams carry in the wind Exploding on the dark Don't ponder any trend We're passing now the park CHORUS: So darling, just smile at me And keep singing off-key You don't have to say you love me 'Cause you don't expect anything of me Just sing off-key The moon a constant fixture Another castle makes me smile Punkers are our overture The houses rushing for a mile I want it to never ever end I watch your hair blow in the breeze I have never felt this zen Next to the solid green of trees CHORUS The serpent's fangs loom nearby Please don't get out just yet, girl He won't scream for your love, like I He wouldn't say that you're his world And even if such came to pass It wouldn't hold my meaning, child I peer at lips beyond your glass The raging storm of salt grows wild CHORUS I figure, love, I'll never tell you As I step on the way of drive How over time my passion grew And how you make me feel alive Meow, meow, let it go in Watch you back out another moon I guess I'm just not built to win At least not you and no time soon That's all I'll post for now. I'd appreciate feedback (good or bad). Also, if any of you Schmoes have some lyrics you'd like to post, feel free! |
