Leonardo DiCaprio Twice... In The Same Category! - As much of a great actor I think he is, we really need to share the love here. One actor nominated twice is fine but not in the same category. Sure he's a great actor but we couldn't give this other one to another great actor. Nicolas Cage for World Trade Center? Denzel Washington for Inside Man? Come on man! Let's share the love!

Johnny Depp for Best Actor in a... COMEDY?! - Now this is just ridiculous. How could Johnny Depp be nominated for best actor in a comedy for Pirates 2? Pirates 2 was NOT, I repeat, NOT a comedy. Jack Sparrow isn't even that funny. This category is strictly left to comedies and musicals. Not action blockbusters.

Will Ferrell for Best Actor in a Comedy - Will Ferrell is a funny man I kid you not but he shouldn't be nominated for best actor in a comedy for Stranger than Fiction. Stranger than Fiction was not a comedy! It was a drama with some funny bits but it was no way a comedy movie. I would've been fine if they nominated him for Talladega Nights but Stranger than Fiction? Just because it has Will Ferrell in it doesn't mean it's a comedy.

Jack Nicholson and Mark Wahlberg in the Same Category for the Same Movie - Sure I'd be fine with this but since they're in the same movie, I'm not. This just shouldn't happen. There's way to much competition and you shouldn't include the same actors or movies twice in the same category. Same goes for Adriana Barraza and Rinko Kikuchi for Babel.

Clint Eastwood Nominated Twice in the Same Category - Share the love I say! Can't these Golden Globe folks find another director. Clint Eastwood is an excellent director and all but twice in the same category? What about Paul Greengrass for United 93? Christopher Nolan for The Prestige? Come on!

It's completely subjective to people's opinions so if they felt Leo gave two of the best performances then nominate him twice. Why not?

Same Clint Eastwood. If they think Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima are two of the five best films of the year then nominate him for both of them.

And I'm sorry, but Jack Sparrow is a comical character and Pirates 2 is a comical movie so it does belong in the comedy section.

And Stranger Than Fiction is a comedy and Will Ferall is in the correct category.

You forgot the main thing: Beyonce getting nominated even though her performance was not awards material, but I believe we all know why she was nominated....because the Golden Globes are starfuckers.

Well I haven't seen Dreamgirls so I didn't include it. But Pirates 2 is NOT a comedy. It was a summer action blockbuster. And neither was Stranger than Fiction. Sure some parts were funny but it was mostly a drama movie.

Well for one thing your alternative choices are extremely underwhelming. Awards shows aren't really about sharing the love, are they? I haven't seen Blood Diamond, but they're obviously two very distinctive roles, so why shouldn't they nominate him twice? Soderbergh was nominated for 2 Oscars for directing Erin Brokovitch and Traffic in the same year and no one seemed to care. And it didn't split his vote, either! He won for traffic.

Okay this is nothing. according to past nominations, Jackie Brown and the Mask of Zorro were labelled as comedies. Figure that one out. At least Sparrow is a comedic role, but Jackie Brown a comedy? HUH?

I guess they just have to decide which category fits best.

Yeah. Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, and James Caan would probably have to disagree with you regarding their supporting nominations in The Godfather.

Nolan, I dunno, haven't seen the film, but Greengrass, sure. But you have to understand that the Hollywood Foreign Press fucking loves Eastwood. I agree with you on this one, though. They should stick with whichever directorial effort they felt was the best and focused on that nomination. It's not as if they're films that are worlds apart like soderbergh's efforts in 2000.

All in all, I don't think the Globes suck. Any awards shows that value The Aviator and Brokeback Mountain over Million Dollar Baby and Crash are okay in my book. This was one of their weaker years but as a whole, they make good choices. You have to keep in mind though, it's just 80 really, really old people-- not nearly as vast as the AMPAAS. Their selections aren't really as daring. I always have a harder time predicting the GG's over the Oscars because with the Oscars they're always trying to pull some surprises on you, and sometimes think the GG's will do that but they really, really go with the OBVIOUS choices. I'm still surprised that Crash won the Oscar (though I predicted they would pull that surprise, if that makes sense), and that Capote got a BP nomination, but Brokeback winning the GG was just more obvious of a choice winner. So maybe obvious can be better. Not always, but in that case I think so.

I don't even understand her nomination for best original song. Ben Folds should have been nominated for his work on Over the Hedge.
