Cloris Leachman's performance in Last Picture Show is the best supporting female performance ever, so it gets my vote.

No one else really comes close, though Darwell, Hunt, O'Neal, and Saint are probably closest.

BEST:
Cloris Leachman - The Last Picture Show
Eva Marie Saint - On the Waterfront

WORST:
Renee Zellweger - Cold Mountain

MOST OVERRATED:
Jessica Lange - Tootsie

MOST UNDERRATED:
Kim Basinger - L.A. Confidential (she receives too much flack for it, and although I wouldn't rank her over Julianne Moore's performance in Boogie Nights, I nevertheless thought it was a deserved win)

My favorites are:
Rachael Weisz -- The Constant Gardener
Tatum O'Neal -- Paper Moon
Claire Trevor -- Key Largo
Eva Maria Saint, On the Waterfront
Juliette Binoche -- The English Patient

I've never seen The Last Picture Show...but I definitely see it appearing on my netflix queue in the near future now.

I think if you liked Paper Moon, you should probably like it.

Hopefully as much as those of us who really love it do
