Used DVDs from Blockbuster?

Has anyone ever bought a used DVD from Blockbuster? How does it work? They have them on the shelves at my location and I was always wondering if you get the exact copy you pick, or is that just a shelf-stocker and you really get some behind-the-counter copy not even in the original case? Also, do you get the original artwork? Cover? Insert? Disc art? Are there any stickers attached to the disc like with their rentals?

Just wondering since I hope to pick some up today. What quality are the discs usually in?

Um, it's the copy on the shelf... The case has a tab thingy in it that's hard to break without fucking up the case. And the discs range from pristine to terrible condition. But supposedly they have a guarantee that if you get a crappy disc you can take it back and get a working one.

I bought DVD cases to replace the used ones with. I can deal if the disc has a few scratches, but I'll ask them about their return policy. Thanks.

I found out that used videos are cheaper at Rogers, and also come in pristine condition. They even seal the boxes in plastic cases to protect from damaging while buyer's might browse by. Grandma's Boy Unrated, prefect condition, is inly 4.99$ CAN - amazing deal.

The answer is yes, probably to the tune of 200-300 of them (yea I kind was an assistant store manager for several years until mine went out of business damn no more late fees people should be penalized for being jackasses) although I rarely had to pay for them, store credit is a wonderful thing

you get the cover art, you use to get good amrays with them as well but since they changed how you rent them where now when you rent them they are in the cover art where it used to be in the generic blue cases that said blockbuster on them, you now get a blockbuster security amray which kind of sucks

Plus now since the cover art goes home with the renters it can also become damaged like the disks. I swear some renters use the dvds as coasters and to spread jam on their toast in the morning. If their penises were small enough I wouldn't put it past some renters to have sex with the little whole in the middle too (trust me I have seen amrays returned covered in beer and other substances that you almost need a hasmat kit before you want to touch them(. Some people are savages and since its not their own they treat the dvd so badly or let their kids play with them and they get so scratched, that I would charge the dvds to their accounts and throw them away.

Our backroom use to have thousands and thousands of dvd covers boxes until the switch (it would take hours to transfer them back from the blockbuster cases to the real cases). Ahhhh the good ole days now we are stuck with the hollywood video system where everytime I buy a used dvd I have to replace the amray from my secret stash which is getting low (I took cases and cases home of the good amrays because we just threw them away).

I usually buy mine at Blockbuster. They tend to be cheaper than Hollywood...4 for $20 right now. I've been buying them for years from Blockbuster and have never had a problem. But I do switch out the cases.

Bought 6 used at Rogers today for 35$ (tax included). They are fine, they have the Rogers circle stickers around the ring of the disc, but otherwise they are great. Cases are scuffed, but thats about it.

Thats what they mostly have, but occaisionally you find a real gem like a discontinued Criterion or something absolutly amazing.

I've brought second-hand, second-hand copies of former Blockbuster flicks (i.e. someones brought an ex-rental, then sold it to a pawn shop, where I've brought it from). and never had any problems with 'em - the last one was Thumbsucker, cost me £3 and was in perfect condition.

I do what sirdizzy does if the cases are a bit worse for ware, simply swap 'em out and put 'em into other cases.

I buy them all the time. They used to have stickers on the original case which pissed me off, but now they put plastic wrap over it and then stickers. I occasionally get one that is a little scratched, but a quick whipe usually clears it up. If it's really bad you have 30 days to return it.

There is always a good selection of movies. Snakes on a Plane was out 3 weeks after it was released for $12.99 (I live in Canada if that price doesn't sound right). They usually are released a month after their original release date. They sometimes have pretty good deals too.

I bought a batch of four movies from Blockbuster this afternoon, for 20$ (CAN). All new releases, and a deal 2 for 12. The cases are ruined completely, but the discs are perfect (minus marker code). The discs have a sticker keeping them shut, a price tag sticker, and a huge barcode sticker on the back. I only need to replace the cases and I'm good.

Blockbuster is good sometimes. I got 'Crank' and 'Thank you for smoking' for $20 today. When I got home I swapped out their cases for 2 empties I had. I also hate BB's cases. I not only hate the part with the yellow security thing but I also hate the inside, the release button bugs me and the BB logo distracts me and the cover just bugs me as well because while it is clear, its a grainy type of clear if you've ever noticed.

I'm totally anal about DVD's, good lord.

Reponse

Actually, I like the Blockbuster cases. They don't seem to scratch as easy as the stor cases.
