Uncle Rico - LOL

So Kansas City's Arena Football League team, the Brigade, did a promotion tonight involving none other than Uncle Rico himself, Jon Griese. They even promoted "Meet Uncle Rico!" on their website.

I have no idea why, but Griese is wearing a KC Royals hat on his IMDB picture, so maybe he has some ties to the area (he was born in California). Anyway, no matter. Uncle Rico was in the house.

I wondered if he was going to be "in character," considering how they promoted the whole Uncle Rico angle, but he was himself, and he turned out to be pretty goofy.

He did the coin toss, wearing a Brigade jersey that said Uncle Rico across the back. Then at halftime they had a contest to "show off your skills." It was a silly, throw the football at moving targets kind of game, but they had Griese do it first. While they were setting it up, they layed out all the footballs they were going to use and he picked one up and started running around with it, Uncle-Rico-posing-for-the-camera style. It was hilarious.

After the game they set up a table at did autographs and pictures. He was obviously having a good time with being the center of attantion. I just hope my pictures came out okay.

I always wondered what happened to him after he cashed in the winnings from his sweepstakes, and moved out of the dorm's basement.

Like... 2 people will get that reference.

I wonder if anyone even remembers him in that role. I have always been a fan so I do, along with his awesomely bug filled performance in Fright Night part 2.

I'd only seen him in that 80s gem - if in anything else I don't remember.

Is Fright Night 2 worth checking out? I'm a big fan of the original.

Eh, it is no where near as good but you still might want to check it out. Chris Sarandon was just so awesome that the baddies in 2 dont match his level of coolness.

Griese was also in Monster Squad which is coming to DVD. Another 80s movie worth checking out if you havent. A comedy but still good.

Wow. Crossing Jordan is on, and there's this actor who looks just like Griese, except younger & with hair.

I was showing the pics to my wife and she noted that he also played the drug dealer who haunts Dylan McKay on the mean streets of Beverly Hills.

Like... 2 people will get the reference.

Thats Jeffrey Donovan. He was in Blair Witch 2 which sucked BUT he was in the short lived Touching Evil (the US version) television show and he kicked ASS in that. I was PISSED when that went off the air. He has a new show coming out called Burn Notice which might be ok.

Okay, so I won't be challenging you to any actor trivia contests! That was great you knew that. So what cha think? Could he play a younger Griese, or at least a close relative?

They could do father son easy. Griese, even though he is older does look young for his age I think. That would be the only problem. Maybe they could do brothers. But yeah there is a resemblance.
