Fav. movies/movie that take place within a 24 hour time period.

No flashback, flashforwards, etc. outside of the 24 hour time frame. Not a single scene.
1. High Noon
2. Rebel Without a Cause
3. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner
4. Die Hard
5. United 93
6. Training Day

I can't seem to remember if 'The General' took place during a 24 hour time period or any of the Chaplin films.

Sidney Lumet does these movies well and the first two that came to mind were 12 Angry Men and Dog Day Afternoon.

Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing is one of my all-time favorites and it takes place all in a 24-hour period in one neighborhood.

Clerks is, for my money, the funniest movie ever and it only covers about 12 hours at a convenience store/video store.

Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think 1964's two great cold war movies, Fail Safe and Dr. Strangelove both take place within a 24-hour timeframe from soviet scare to dropping the bomb.

Tape and Rope.

Even though they are much more..."limited" than 24 hours, they have no flashbacks or fast-forwards at all. Both of them are done in real time, and I LOVE them.

Do the Right Thing is the best one I can think of that hasn't been mentioned.

EDIT: Nevermind, sorry QUENTIN.

I'm pretty sure Pulp Fiction all takes place in the same day, if you put it in chronological order.

Waking Life, another "sort of" entry because the time aspect isn't exactly clear in it.

In The Hours, each one of the three women's stories takes place over the course of one day, but there are the three seperate stories and not just one, so it sort-of-but-not-quite counts.

And some more concrete examples: Fargo, Babel, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, 25th Hour.

Pulp Fiction and especially Fargo take place over several days. They both span more like a week's time.

Chronologically, Pulp Fiction starts one morning and ends the next morning or later. It's possible but it probably goes, at the least, a little over 24 hours. You'd have to ask Tarantino.

I guess I always assumed it was a sort of morning-to-morning stretch, Butch's fight being on the same night as Vince's night out with Mia, and the rest of the Butch story taking place the morning after, which would put it in at just over a 24-hour timeframe. Then again, there is also a flashback, if ever so brief. Close, but no quarter.

People mentioned United 93 and that was really good but I thought World Trade Center was even better. A masterpiece infact.

I haven't gotten up the never to see either one, esp World Trade Center since it takes place right there. But I've become more curious about them; maybe that'll override my fear of getting too depressed by them.

World Trade Center did have its good points (the falling building scence was spectacular) and also managed to connect me emotionally at times, but overall I found the movie boring.

ok. i'm not sure- but i believe Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind begins and ends on the same day- February 14. I'm gonna rewatch it again, try and figure it out.

on another note, i watched United 93 for the first time yesterday. Was shock up for HOURS.

From what I can remember about 'Spotless' is that it definitely uses visual flashbacks. But my memory of that film is slowly disappearing.

'United 93' makes 'World Trade Center' look like a mining accident movie. I think I wouldn't have liked 'WTC' at all if not for the subject matter.
