Horrible experiance at K-MART

Today I decided to go shopping for DVDs. I first went to Walmart, but soon left because it was soo crowded that I couldn't even see what they had. After that I went to pitiful K-mart. To my amazement, I saw that they had Bubba Ho-Tep SE which isn't supposed to come out until August 7. I go to the check out and the guy scans my DVD. He then tells me that whoever put the DVD out wasn't supposed to and that he couldn't sell it to me. No big deal. So I go looking at DVDs again and I see Invasion of the Body Snatchers SE (1978) which isn't supposed to come out until SEPTEMBER 11! I go to the checkout and he gives me the same story. I was very disapointed, but I handled the situation with class and I gave him an "oh well." The worst part happened as I was leaving. I was carrying MY sunglasses (a brand that they obviously didn't sell) and the woman at the return desk next to the exit accuses me of shoplifting. She called security (or at least I think she did; maybe I was just being paranoid). I just left before anyone came. I should have just stayed and made a big scene about it. Demand some sort of apology for the crap they put me through. Screw Walmart and Kmart! I am now loyal to Amazon.com exclusively!

Sorry for the long post, but I just felt like venting my anger. Anybody else run into a situation like this?

The 2 K Marts near me are real dumps. I went yesterday to p/u Return of the King Extended for $12.99 and once again, like when they advertised Hellboy Directors cut for $12.99 they didnt have any! Went to Best Buy and got the same sale price. Cant stand K mart anymore - When I go to the burbs I'll stop in one cuz its more of a better class of people and items

Yeah I hate to shop at Kmart, they can take their blue light special and shove it up their asses. Everytime i go to my local Kmart its hot as hell due to the store not making enough money to repair the goddamn a/c even in over 100 degree Florida heat.

Also everytime i go in and look around i get followed around the store by a plainclothes undercover officer who believes i shoplift.

Sounds like a bunch of nitwits for sure. Bad enough that they put out not one but TWO films that you were denied buying but then being accused of shoplifting is the icing on this dung sundae. yea something similar happend to me two weeks ago. a KMart near me was selling Premonition the week before it was due out. so I took it to the counter and the guy told me it wouldnt let him scan it. I said Probably because it isnt due out for another week. he asked how i knew that. And I explained that I work in the Movie Industry. in which he called me a spy from another store. so I told him I didnt like his attitude and he called his manager. who they threatend to call the police. which i told him I would even Dial the number for them. in which I did. and then i called 1-800-NO-COPYS Which is the Anti Theft hotline. I told them about Kmart Breaking the Street date. The store manager thought i was lying about who i was on the phone with. so I asked for Kmarts Phone Number. he gave it to me. and They called back on KMARTS Phone and told him that they were being Fined for breaking the street date.

Since then I dont think they will again

considering that the Fine is $30,000 AND the distributer of that brand. (sony) will not ship to them early ever again

I don't know why anyone would ever shop at K-Mart or WalMart for DVDs. Both stores are usually complete dumps, filled with idiot clerks, and, quite frankly, mostly idiot customers as well. (Not you guys!)

Go to best buy, circuit city, or somewhere online!

I always shop at Wal-mart...however, I have to go out of my way to find one with decent employees and decent customers that shop there.

But everytime I've gone to K-mart, the store looks like one giant illegal operation, it's dirty, dark and their prices aren't all that great.

Story about The Walmart near my house, I walk in. I live in the hood btw so this Walmart isnt open 24 hours like most are and they only receive the basic shit nothing too fancy. So I go to the electronic section and stand there for a few minutes in front of the dvds, the dvd section is the only place i go to in that shithole. No matter where i go to in the store I always seem to find my way back there.

So Im looking at the dvds again for the 2nd time in one visit and I look up and blamo I must look like I belong on Americas Most Wanted or something because two stores I go to I see a plane clothed cop staring at me from the other side of the shelf, he makes it obvious hes looking at me and im looking at him.

So i decided to have a little fun with the rent a cop, i walk real fast in the other direction then around the entire store a couple times, each time i stop and look in the electronics. Still Johnny Law is on my tail watching me. So he gives a look to the clerk behind the counter and she asks me what im looking for? I just walk out. Fuck Walmart. Fuck Kmart

I don't think I've ever bought a DVD at K-Mart. I haven't bought a DVD from Circuit City or Best Buy in about a year. Although, i HATE walmart, I do still buy there occasionally, mainly for popular new releases (i.e. Hot Fuzz and 300 today). I mainly shop at Fry's Electronics and DVD Planet here....and sometimes at stores like FYE and Borders.

I thought the fine was $50,000? We've had similar situations to the one your discribing not once but repeatedly at the local KMart, Wal-Mart, FYE and Best Buy(although their not as bad and they've often gotten excusive deals with the ditributer).

To me one of the worst things about them doing this that it makes customers think that the product is out already. I work on the weekends for a small chain of video stores, we specialize in special orders (forigen movies, anime, documenteries and older movies) but we also sell the more mainstream stuff and we do pre-orders for all of our movies. And their have been some customer who have been very angry because they see the movie at KMart and think that we haven't called them. The last movie that this happened with was Ghost Rider, and what I was suprised at was that the movie actually scanned in thier system.

I never blame the sales clerks themselves but I do blame the people running the stores, to put it frankly they should know better, and they also shouldn't have such a horrible attitude once they get caught or take it out on their employees.

You can sue for a bad shoplifting stop and normally in retail the person who makes the bad stop will be fired.

Both k and walmart treat there customers like criminals. You can't leave the store without a checker going thru your bag and checking your receipt. I give them hell every time. "No you can't see my receipt, go fuck yourself, call the cops if you want" and I just walk on. And why does everyone go along with this egrecious violation of privacy, of dignity?

I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!

it seems like everytime i go to a k-mart near where i am they're always doing some kind of renivation or construction and the floors r like always being stripped

and one time my sister bought a printer/scanner at k-mart and she got home and opened the box and the disc that u use to install the printer had a giant slash threw it like someone took a letter opener and just scrapped it for the hell of it

I believe if you are accused of shoplifting and are innocent the store can get into huge trouble. You should have stayed and let a scene develop, and when you were found to be in the right go to the manager. You may have gotten something out of it.

A week before Wedding Crashers was released, I was at Wal-Mart and there were a couple of copies on the shelf. So I obviously picked it up. I went to the counter and the cashier said "Oops, that isn't supposed to be on the self yet, but that's our mistake and if it was on the shelf we have to sell it to you, even if it gets us in trouble." She then went and took the other copy off of the shelf, and sold me the copy I had picked up.

They were very cool about it and their policy was very good. I mean, they should have to sell it to you, and if someone of authority towards the DVD finds out, then the store should have to take the blame for their mistake.
