Plot: There's a hostage situation on Alcatraz, a group of renegade Marines have seized the island and 81 tourists, and now the only person to break out, must break back in to save them. The San Francisco bay area is at stake for a chemical weapon strike, and the only people who can save the city are a 60 year old highly trained SAS operative and an FBI chemical weapons specialist.

Review: Okay first and foremost I have to say I really liked "the Rock" because it was
different, this film doesn't follow the overused formula for a flick of its genre. It is not another movie trying to copy "Die Hard". The villian is not even that bad of a guy, Generall Hummell just wants compensation for the death of Reconnaissance
Marines. The government still won't give in to his demands so he and an elite team of U.S. Marines take Alcatraz Island under siege. Surely his demands couldn't be too
steep and he ends up not even executing any civilians. I hope I haven't revealed too much, I don't want to give away this movie for those who haven't seen it. I guarantee after you have watched "The Rock", you will a new-found respect for Recon Marines though. This film has a moving story and great scenes of action to go with it. And oh yeah, there is no unrealistic face-off at the end between the bad guy and the good guy in some wierd place. It you feel up to a classic action-thriller, this is probably one of the first movies I suggest.

What i like about this movie that it's just not only no brainers action.The music fits good with the actionscenes.The performances of connery,harris and cage are great.10/10

Definitely one of my favourite action movies.I can`t say it deserves 10/10, and maybe 7.5/10 matches better, according to me.And besides, the music was great really.

A more thoughtful action movie than usual. I mean, you really feel sympathy for the Ed Harris character. Sean Connery is cool as hell like usual but Nicolas Cage steels this movie with an awesome performance. I mean, really, could anybody make the line "How in the name of Zues's butthole" sound as cool as he does.

Sorry to ruin this film's winning streak in this video capsule, but I thought this movie sucked. More action than plot and the plot was weak and dilluted. 4/10

7/10.......a solid action flick, that's heavy on enjoyment and low on depth, just what i want from such a film - excellent.
