Alan Pakula's THE PARRALAX VIEW (8.5/10)
THE PARRALAX VIEW (8.5/10)
Released: 1974 Director: Alan Pakula Starring: Warren Beatty, Hume Cronyn, Bill McKinney THE PARRALAX VIEW is a clever, haunting tale of politically intrigue that is engrossing, mind bending entertainment that delivers. Reminiscemnt of films like "The Ipcress File" and "Seconds" Warren Beatty plays Joseph Frady, a B grade Journalist who just doesn't know when to quit. To reveal anymore is to ruin the fun. Director Alan Pakula (All The Presidents Men) helms this suspense filled tale that weaves a web of intrigue. With an intelligent script by David Giler (Alien,Aliens) the audience is reeled in from the opening and isn't released until well after the final credits. Solid camera work and a subtle but haunting score ensure that the tension never lets up. The Parralax View is a personal fave of mine and will appeal to those who want a quality thriller that keeps you on the end of the hook. |

This film is like neck and neck with my favorite political thriller starring Robert Redford, "3 Days of the Condor". (both came out within a year of each other 1974/1975)
Beatty and redford are both charming, charismatic icons of the 60's, 70's and 80's, and even have their own place in the 90's and beyond. Great choice Deckard! ![]() |

This unique like unknown classic made quietly in-between Alan J. Pakula's Klute made in 1971 and " All the Presidents men" made in 1976.
It's got beatty as a conspiracy nut newsman who would create a story to make news if he had to. finally when he gets a great story no one believes him and soon everybody is trying to kill him. beautifully shot by Gordon Willis who later went on to film all of Francis Ford Coppola's Godfather's and did brilliant cinematography for 8 Woody Allen films. this film is one of the most underrated conspiracy thrillers of all time and deserves to be more widely noticed. I love this film 10/10 |
