Pulp Fiction[10/10]

Pulp Fiction

Directed By: Quentin Tarantino

Starring: John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman

Rating: R for pervasive offensive language, strong violence, drug content and some sexuality

Have you ever been in a supermarket or any other public place. You see someone you know and wave to them. They may be at that place for the same reason you are. But it may be for something different. Something that is connected to whatever you're doing.....

Am I not making sense? Well anyway what i'm trying to say is that in one way or another what we do is connected to what someone else is doing also at that time in some way or another and that's what this movie deals with.

This movie follows 3 intertwining stories. First story is the story of two hit man Vincent Vega[John Travolta] and Jules Winnfield[Samuel L. jackson],who quotes a biblical scripture before carrying out his deed. Vega is assigned to take his boss's wife Mia Wallace[Uma Thurman] out on a night on the town. The problem is the last guy who watched after her got pushed out a building for giving her a foot massage. Trouble ensues. I can't say anymore without giving it away. The next story follows a couple, Pumpkin[Tim Roth] and Hunny Bunny[Amanda Plummer], who just happen to be diner bandits. The final story follows a boxer[Bruce Willis] who's on the run for not taking a prearranged fall during a match.

The stories beautifully and skillfully interconnect together, thanks to the team that won a Screenplay Oscar for this, Roger Avary and Quentin Tarantino[also the director]. The dialogue is also priceless. strangely enough, these people are having normal coversations like normal people, ranging from what do they call a cheeseburger in France, to would you sleep with Betty or Veronica and uncomfortable silences. Its not just the dialogue that makes this movie, its the themes all explored deeply. Its not for everyone though. The 271 plus f-words[!] can be hard to digest, plus the fancy-free violence and graphic images, including homosexual rape!! Its some very offensive and twisted stuff, but if you try to take it all in good stride you'll see its just Tarantino's way off telling us his thoughts and outlook on life. He must be a very scary man but ,in a way, that's kind of a good thing. I think...

Final Rating:
10/10 or A+

The first time I saw "Pulp Fiction" I hated it. Didn't even finish watching it. After a second viewing, i realized that this is one of my favorite films ever!!! The sick action, the twisted plot, the interesting characters with their interesting stories(Tony Rocky Horror), all of it was just so right! It should have won best picture. The film is genius!!! RATING10/10

This movie was one of the greatest of the 90's. The acting, directing, screenplay (especially), sound and editing were all just perfect. A very involving, fun, entertaining and special film.

Grade: 10/10 (what else?)
